THE PRESENT INVENTION ALSO INTRODUCES A METHOD FOR MANAGING CONGESTION WHEN CONGESTION IS DETECTED. THIS ASPECT OF THE PRESENT INVENTION APPLIES PRIMARILY TO WIRELESS SYSTEMS THAT USE THE CARRIER SENSE MULTIPLE ACCESS/COLLISION AVOIDANCE (CSMA/CA) MECHANISM.
