Abstract: PURPOSE:To increase a ratio of infusibilization and obtain a carbon fiber with a ready handling at a low cost by spinning a pitch so as to have a finess lower than a specified value, accommodating the resultant staples in a vessel, infusibilize the staples and then calcining the staples in an inert atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A pitch is initially spun preferably using the flash spinning, etc., so as to have a finess lower than 0.33 denier and formed into staples. The resultant staples are then accommodated in a vessel and infusibilized or infusibilized in an oxidative atmosphere in a fluidized state. The infusibilized fiber is subsequently calcined in an inert atmosphere to provide the objective fiber. In case of infusibilization of the staples in a vessel, a vessel made of stainless is preferably used as the vessel and the vessel accommodating the pitch is preferably subjected to oxidation treatment in an oxidative liquid followed by treatment thereof in an oxidative gas. As the method for infusibilizing the pitch fiber in a fluidized state, an oxidative gas is preferably blown in the fluidizing zone equipped under a spinning machine while allowing the pitch fiber to fall to the zone.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject high-tenacity and high elastic modulus carbon fiber having no crack by discharging a pitch with optical anisotropy through slit-shaped nozzle holes, subsequently through other nozzle holes with a circular cross section and then carrying out infusibilizing and graphitization treatment. CONSTITUTION:A pitch with optical anisotropy is initially discharged through nozzle holes 9 with a slit-shaped cross section and then through other nozzle holes 10 with a substantially circular cross section of a sectional area eta that of the above mentioned slit-shaped nozzle holes equipped in succession from the above mentioned slit-shaped nozzle holes after reducing the flow of the pitch. The resultant pitch yarn is subsequently subjected to infusibilization treatment and calcined, thus obtaining the objective carbon fiber with a circular cross section and composed of a fine structure where lamellas spread to the outside through an adjacent boundary reaching the fiber surface.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain at a low cost the title fiber having extra-ordinarily reinforcing effect on hydraulic inorganic products, useful as a fiber alternative to asbestos, by heating a precursor fiber in a fluidized bed with heating medium granules fluidized by a sulfur-contg. gas. CONSTITUTION:A precursor fiber (pref., a fiber produced from an acrylic polymer 2-5 in polymerization degree) is heated in a fluidized bed with heating medium granules fluidized by a sulfur-contg. gas to impart said fiber with flame resistance and chemically bind the sulfur component in said gas to said fiber to sulfurize the precursor fiber, thus obtaining the objective fiber. Said heating medium granules is, e.g., alumina beads, pref. being near spherical and

Abstract: PURPOSE:To readily obtain a carbon fiber cloth excellent in mechanical characteristics, by forming precursor fibers into a fabric shape, heating the resultant fibrous material in a fluidized bed formed by heating medium particles with an oxidizing gas, flameproofing the fabric material and carbonizing the flameproofed fabric material in an inert gas atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:Precursor fibers are woven or knitted into a sheetlike or cylindrical form to provide a fabric material 101, which is then passed through a fluidized bed heating flameproofing furnace 1 and subjected to flameproofing treatment under a prescribed tension to afford a flameproofed fabric material 102. The resultant fabric material is carbonized in a carbonization furnace 2 to provide a carbon fiber cloth. A fluidized bed 5 of heating medium particles is formed on a dispersion plate 8 in the flameproofing furnace 1 and fluidized with the oxidizing gas fed through a feed hole 9 and passed through the dispersion plate 8 to discharge a gas after fluidizing from a gas discharged hole 10.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To simultaneously obtain two large-sized three-dimensional fiber structures with a relatively small-sized apparatus by placing tension-applying devices on both sides of a loom driving apparatus and moving the carrier of the loom driving apparatus to weave two three-dimensional woven products at the same time. CONSTITUTION: A fiber 1 for weaving is extended between a loom driving apparatus 2 and a tension applying device 11 under the application of a prescribed tension. Carriers are orderly arranged in the longitudinal and lateral directions in the loom driving apparatus. The tension applying device 11 is positioned relative to the loom driving apparatus 2 in a state to constantly apply a tension to the weaving fiber 1. The carriers are moved in longitudinal and lateral directions with driving apparatuses 41, 42, 43... to obtain two three- dimensional woven products 8 at the same time.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a spinneret device, having three elements of respective special structures on a spinneret plate and capable of providing homogeneous island-in sea type conjugate fibers for the same residence time of all the polymers. CONSTITUTION:The interior of a spinneret device is constituted of the first element 10, second element 20 and third element 30. The first element is provided with conjugate stream forming parts 5-7 for conjugating polymers (A) and (B) and conjugate chambers 8 for gathering plural conjugate streams. Inlet holes 2 for feeding the polymer (B) downward are provided in the peripheral part thereof and plural distribution grooves 53, distribution ends 54 and distribution holes 55 communicating to the inlet holes 2 are provided in positions at different distances from the center of the spinneret device. The conjugate chambers 8 are formed in the periphery of the distribution holes 55. In the process, the length of the channel between the discharge holes 9 provided in the conjugate chambers 8 and the inlet holes 2 is equalized. Static dividing element 22 are provided in the second element 20 to form polymer streams (A+B) finely divided in the flow direction. Polymer flow passages are provided in the third element 30.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate manufacturing a FRP by filling the inside of a reinforcing fiber with matrix resin evenly, by a method wherein the reinforcing fiber and a thermoplastic fiber are woven into a three diamensional fibrous structural body and the structural body of the reinforcing fiber is made into a matrix by impregnating the structural body of the reinforcing fiber with the thermoplastic fiber melted through heating. CONSTITUTION:A three dimensional fibrous structural body 10 is constituted of warp A and welf B composed of a carbon fiber and vertical yarn C composed of the carbon fiber and a nylon 6 fiber. When the three dimensional fibrous body 10 is pressed by a die 12, thermoplastic resin which has been stuck to the surface of a heat-plasticizable fiber and that of the reinforcing fiber is melted, entered into among the reinforcing fibers and turned into FRP of a predetermined form. Generation of a bend on the reinforcing fiber or void is not observed at all on the formed FRP.
