Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain satisfactory antimicrobial and deodorant performances by incorporating the forms consisting metal ions, at least a part of which has an antimicrobial effect, and cation exchange fibers which are substd. with ions having a deodorant effect and have the antimicrobial and deodorant performances, into the articles. CONSTITUTION:The forms consisting of the metal ions, at least a part of which have the antimicrobial effect, and the cation exchange fibers which are substd. with the ions having the deodorant effect and have the antimicrobial and deodorant performances, are incorporated into the sanitary articles, such as diapers, urination training drawers, pads for incontinence, physiological napkins and throw-away underwear. Such forms include paper, felt, woven fabrics, etc. The cation exchange fibers are formed as composite fibers consisting of ion exchange polymers and reinforcing material polymers. Any of copper, silver and zinc is used for the metal ions having the antimicrobial effect. The cation exchange fibers 6 are disposed on the lower layer of an absorbent 5 enclosed by a non- woven fabric 2, by which the required antimicrobial and deodorant performances are obtd. in the case of embodiment of the invention as the physiological napkins.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To effectively remove the dissolved oxygen in liquid by bonding hydroquinone derivatives or the analogous materials thereof to a fiber having arom. nucleus. CONSTITUTION:The fiber which is the fiber contg. a polymer having the arom. nucleus in the side chain or main chain as one of the constitutive elements, is covalent bonded with at least one kind from among the hydroquinone deriv. dihydroxy naphthalene deriv. and dehydroxy anthracene deriv. with this polymer and has oxygen removability is formed. The fiber having the arom. nucleus in the side chain is exemplified by a polymonovinyl arom. compd. in terms of fiber formability or functional group introducing property. More specifically, the fiber is so spun that polystyrene constitutes a sea component and polypropylene constitutes island components to obtain the multifiber sea and island type composite fiber. The fiber is cut to 0.5mm length, is crosslinked by a concd. sulfuric acid/paraform aldehyde system and is further chloromethylated by the conventional method. These fibers are brought into reaction with hydroquinone in a solvent, such as dioxane, with Lewis acid as a catalyst, by which the fibers are obtd.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a separation membrane wherein control of a pore diameter is made easy and membrane thickness can be made thin by constituting the membrane of both a permeable layer having many fine pores of specified average pore diameter and a supporting layer having many pores wherein the average pore diameter in the face parallel to the surface of the membrane is specified. CONSTITUTION:A uniform raw liquid is obtained by adding an aq. soln. dissolved with both a fiber formable polymer such as sodium alginate and an additive such as calcium carbonate to an aqueous dispersion in which polytetrafluoroethylene is dispersed in an aqueous medium contg. a surfactant. This raw liquid is extruded through a mouthpiece for hollow yarn together with core liquid consisting of a coagulating liquid such as a calcium chloride aq. soln. and coagulated in the coagulating liquid and washed with water and thereafter heat-treated at the temp. not lower than m.p. of the resin. This molded form is immersed into the mixed liquid of sulfuric acid and nitric acid to remove the fiber formable polymer and the additive and a porous hollow yarn membrane is obtained. Whereby the separation membrane consisting of both a permeable layer having fine many pores of 0.01-2mu average pore diameter and a supporting layer having many pores wherein the average pore diameter in the face parallel to the surface of the membrane is regulated to 2-20mu is obtained.
