La perla expandida (1) tiene una capa núcleo espumada (2) y una capa unible por fusión (3). Una relación en masa de la capa núcleo espumada (2) respecto la capa unible por fusión (3) es capa núcleo espumada: capa unible por fusión = 99,5:0,5 a 85:15. La resina a base de polipropileno que constituye la capa núcleo espumada 2 tiene un módulo de flexión de 8,0 x 108 N/m2 o más y menos de 1,2 x 109 N/m2, y un punto de fusión Tmc de 150 °C o inferior.
