    Abstract: PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF POLYESTER POLYOLS A process for the preparation of polyester polyols having an acid number of less than l, a hydroxyl number of approximately 20 to about 400, and having a functionality of efficaciously 2 to 3, wherein polycarboxylic acids and/or their anhydrides and multivalent alcohols are polycondensed, preferably in the absence of common esterification catalysts, at temperatures of from about 150.degree. to 250.degree.C, optionally under reduced pressure, up to an acid number of from 20 to 5. The resulting polycondensate is then oxyalkylated per carboxyl group using from 1 to 5 moles of an alkylene oxide, for example 1,2-propylene oxide and/or preferably ethylene oxide, in the presence of at least one tertiary amine catalyst from the group consisting of N-methylimidazole, diazabicyclo¢2,2,2!octane, diazabicyclo¢5,4,,0!undec-7-ene and pentamethyldiethylenetriamine and mixtures thereof, in a quantity of from about 0.001 to 1.0 weight percent based on the weight of the polycondensate, at temperatures from about 100 to 170.degree.C and under a pressure of about 1 to 10 bar.

    Abstract: PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF FLEXIBLE POLYURETHANE FOAMS INVOLVING THE USE OF ALIPHATIC MONOAMINES The invention relates a process for the preparation of a polyurethane foam by reacting an organic polyisocyanate, polyol, and primary or secondary aliphatic monoamine in the presence of a blowing agent and catalyst. The amines are used in quantities of 0.1 part to 10 parts by weight per 100 parts per weight of polyol. The highly elastic polyurethane flexible foams are suited for the manufacture of upholstered furniture, matresses, automobile seats and head supports, as well as particularly for molded foams. The semi-rigid polyurethane foams are used as foam backing of dashboards in automobiles, thermal and sound insulation in buildings and vehicles, and for impact absorption in packaging materials.

    Abstract: Pigment dyeing fibres of cotton, viscose, wool, silk, cellulose acetate, polyamide, polyester, polyacrylonitrile, asbestos and glass is effected by applying a liquor containing a pigment, a binder, polyvinylcaprolactam or a copolymer thereof both of which polymers being soluble in the dye liquor and, optionally, dyeing auxiliaries and drying the material thus treated. Specified comonomers are vinylimidazole, vinyl pyrrolidone, methacrylamide, acrylic acid, ethyl acrylate and vinyl acetate. The binder may be any known cross-linkable copolymers, e.g. as aqueous dispersions, or curable precondensates (many listed). Specified auxiliaries are plasticisers, emulsifiers, thickeners, protective colloids, fillers as well as acid or alkaline catalysts. The dye liquors may be applied by padding, the fibres may then be dried at 50-100 DEG C. and cured at 100-200 DEG C. Examples are given.
