THE MESSAGE INCLUDES AN INDICATION OF WHETHER THE MESSAGE IS INTENDED FOR ASSIGNING RADIO RESOURCES TO THE UL CHANNEL OR THE DL CHANNEL. THE WTRU DETERMINES WHETHER THE MESSAGE IS INTENDED FOR THE WTRU AND, IF SO, THE WTRU DETERMINES WHETHER THE MESSAGE IS FOR ASSIGNING RADIO RESOURCES TO THE UL CHANNEL OR THE DL CHANNEL. THE WTRU TAKES AN APPROPRIATE ACTION BASED ON WHETHER THE MESSAGE IS FOR ASSIGNING RADIO RESOURCES TO THE UL CHANNEL OR THE DL CHANNEL.

Abstract: Un método y aparato para indicar un flujo de bloque temporal (TBF) al cual se direcciona un campo de acuse de recibo/no acuse de recibo transportado (PAN). Se crea una secuencia de verificación de PAN (PCS) usando, por ejemplo, una codificación de verificación de redundancia cíclica (CR). La PCS se oculta con una identidad de flujo temporal (TFI) asignada a un TBF o una máscara generada en base a la TFI. Se procesa entonces, para transmisión, un bloque de datos que incluye el campo de PAN y la PCS oculta. La máscara puede generarse mediante conversión de la TFI usando un código (M,N), siendo M no mayor al número de bits de la PCS y siendo N el número de bits de la TFI. Con este esquema, una TFI puede transmitirse en un campo de PAN sin usar bits explícitos para identificar el TBF.

Abstract: Detecting, avoiding and/or correcting problematic puncturing patterns in parity bit streams used when implementing punctured Turbo codes is achieved without having to avoid desirable code rates. This enables identification/avoidance of regions of relatively poor Turbo code performance. Forward error correction comprising Turbo coding and puncturing achieves a smooth functional relationship between any measure of performance and the effective coding rate resulting from combining the lower rate code generated by the Turbo encoder (600) with puncturing of the parity bits. In one embodiment, methods to correct/avoid degradations due to Turbo coding are implemented by puncturing interactions when two or more stages of rate matching (610, 620) are employed.

Abstract: Methods and base stations are described. A base station includes a receiver, a processor and a transmitter. The receiver receives a first data block associated with an uplink temporary block flow (TBF), and the first data block includes a first header that includes a temporary flow identity (TFI) that identifies the uplink TBF. The processor generate a piggybacked acknowledgement/non-acknowledgement (PAN) field corresponding to the uplink TBF and a PAN check sequence (PCS) based on the PAN field, masks a subset of PCS bits with the TFI to generate a masked PCS, and generates a second data block, associated with a downlink TBF, that includes a second header, a data part corresponding to the downlink TBF, the PAN field, and the masked PCS. The transmitter transmits the second data block.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for adaptively biasing a channel quality indicator (CQI) used for setting a configuration of communication between a transmitter and a receiver in a wireless communication system. The receiver sends a CQI and positive acknowledgement (ACK)/negative acknowledgement (NACK) messages to the transmitter. The ACK/NACK messages indicate the absence or presence of error, respectively, in a transmitted data packet. The CQI is derived from the signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) and the ACK/NACK messages. The transmitter calculates the block error rate (BLER) of the transmitted data packets based upon the ACK/NACK messages sent from the receiver. The transmitter compares the BLER of the transmitted data packets to a target BLER and biases the CQI based on the comparison in order to achieve the target BLER.

Abstract: Se proporciona un metodo y aparato para control de recursos de radio en un sistema de comunicacion de multiplexado de division de frecuencia ortogonal (OFDM) de entrada multiple y salida multiple (MIMO). La metrica de canal se calcula para cada una de una pluralidad de antenas transmisoras. Se asignan subportadoras a cada antena transmisora de acuerdo con la metrica de canal de cada antena transmisora. Se transmiten las senales utilizando las subportadoras asignadas a cada antena. Se pude implementar adicionalmente modulacion y codificacion asi como control de potencia de transmision adaptables de cada subportadora de acuerdo con la metrica de canal. El control de potencia se puede implementar en base por antena o en base por subportadoras. Al realizar el control de potencia, se pueden seleccionar un subconjunto de antenas transmisoras y se puede aplicar la transferencia uniforme unicamente a las antenas seleccionadas. La transferencia uniforme se puede basar en SNR en vez de respuesta de canal.
