When an oxypropylene group and/or a random polymerized chain (MO chain) of an oxybutylene group and an oxyethylene group is introduced into an AO chain, viscosity is reduced to a large extent as compared with such a case that a block polymerized chain of a polyethylene oxide, polypropylene oxide chain or a polybutylene oxide chain is introduced. In order to more stabilize the effect reducing viscosity, it is pref. that an addition mol number of an oxypropylene group and/or an oxybutylene group is 10% of an MO chain or more.

CONSTITUTION:The objective disparsant consisting of an oil-soluble cationic copolymer prepared by copolymerization between (A) pref. 70-99.5mol%, as lipophilic monomer unit, of styrene or its alkyl-substituted derivative (e.g. styrene. alpha-methylstyrene, vinyltoluene) and (B) pref. 0.5-30 (esp. 1-15)mol%, as cationic monomer unit, of a dialkylaminoalkyl (meth)acrylate quaternary salt or dialkylaminoalkyl (meth)acrylamide quaternary salt. In performing an inverse-phase suspension polymerization of a water-soluble ethylenic unsaturated monomer, this dispersant should be used in such an amount as to be 0.1-10wt% based on said monomer.
