PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively produce a rod stock or a wire rod each having a smaller cross section than 5.5 mm at a lower rolling speed but with no change in manufacturing quantity using a hot rolling method. SOLUTION: A continuous casting and hot rolling mill is characterized in that a number of rod stocks or wire rods are concurrently, simultaneously and changeably manufactured. The mill comprises a continuous casting means (1) having a changeable forming means for continuously feeding a number of stripe materials, rod stocks and wire rods on a plurality of lines for concurrent manufacturing, and a vertical rolling means and a horizontal rolling means for continuously hot-rolling a number of the strip materials, rod stocks and wire rods.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To raise the output of a rolling block, to suppress the outside dimension of a rolling line, especially of a wire-rod rolling line, to the minimum, and also to simplify the structure of the rolling block. SOLUTION: In a compact rolling block provided with two horizontal and parallel rolling lines L1, L2, this compact rolling block is provided with three peripheral transmission shafts 2, 3, 4 at the corners of an equilateral triangle. In this triangle, vertical stands VL, VR which are outward inclined are moved with the two peripheral transmission shafts 3, 4 on the lower side, and horizontal stands OL, OR which are inclined in the opposite direction are supported with the peripheral transmission shaft on the upper side. All the rolls of these stands are perpendicular to the two rolling lines L1, L2 and congruent.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the sway, vibration and bearing fatigue of a laying unit having a laying pipe for a rolled wire rod transferred fast. SOLUTION: The laying unit is provided with a pressuring apparatus DV which is combined with a carrying housing TG and which gives a load to part of a carrying sleeve TH in an axial radial direction between a bearing EL and a bearing HL. The pressing apparatus DV consists of a carrier of a number of pressing rolls, or a one-piece bush which is capable of hydraulic loading bush and which surrounds cylindrical part THZ of the carrying sleeve TH, and also consists of a magnetic bearing, or a slide bearing capable of loading by pressing force in the axial radial direction.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nozzle beam for cooling or descaling the continuum of a metallic material especially a material to be rolled of a style which is respectively provided with one supply part for product treating liquid, additional supply part for device coolant, discharging part for the device cooling liquid and switching mechanism which belongs to the discharging part for opening and closing the discharging part for the device cooling liquid. SOLUTION: The switching mechanism 5 is constituted so as to be automatically switched by the pressure of the device coolant for controlling the condition of work.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prolong the practical service life or the operation time of an injection pipe in a device of spraying the pickling solution or the cleaning solution on a metal work. SOLUTION: In the device of spraying the pickling solution or the cleaning solution to the metal work extending in the longitudinal direction, in particular, a long metal piece which is disposed on a container wall of a pickling container above and/or below a carrying surface of the work, provided with a spray nozzle, connected to a solution feed unit, and provided with a cylindrical spray pipe adjustable around the longitudinal axis, the spray pipe 2 is provided with at least two nozzle rows I-IV separated from each other, and sealed on an inner pipe 3, and the inner pipe is provided with holes 9 provided in one row with spaces in the longitudinal direction of the spray nozzle 4 of an outer spray pipe 2, and the inner pipe is disposed so that the holes 9 are directed to the work in the service condition and aligned with the spray nozzle 4 of one of the nozzle rows I-IV of the outer spray pipe 2.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for preventing inconvenient undercooling in an edge area of a cast strand. SOLUTION: The flow 10 rich in energy of a cooling medium is formed, and straightened in the water-flowing direction to the edge area 11, the flowing water 9 is changed in direction from the edge area 11, and discharged in an outflow opening 12 present in both sides of a cast strand 6 of a secondary cooling chamber 8. Spray nozzles 17 to form the flow 10 rich in the energy and arranged to an outflow outlet are provided in a row. The spray nozzles 17 are provided on the upstream working side of the cast strand 6 on a bottom opening 7 belonging to the secondary cooling chamber 8 at a relatively small distance, and the large number of spray nozzles are arranged in each row 15 in the width direction, and connected to a feed pipe 18 via reducers 1-5.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radius arrangement of the continuous body guiding part in a curving continuous casting apparatus, with which under strict consideration of the maximum allowable elongation or the deformed value of the shell in the continuous body in the whole curving region of the continuous body guiding part, the vertical and curving section can be manufactured in the state of using the parts or a member and/or a module in the continuous body guiding part to be reconstructed, containing an arced mode. SOLUTION: In the radius arrangement of the continuous body guiding part, the curving zones 5, 6 are formed with a first region 5 at least comparatively concentrating the curving degree and a second region 6 having comparatively gentle curving degree, continued with the first region. The continuous body guiding part starts from the infinite radius in the vertical section 3 and has the curvature with a series of radiuses R1j gradually reduced in the first region 5 and curves with the curvatures R2i concentrating comparatively small in the second region 6 in comparison with the first region 5. A shifting adjusting zone 7 forming a shifting part between the curving zones 5, 6 and a main radius guiding zone 8, has the curvatures monotonously increased with the increase ΔR of the length of the radius forming this zone.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press wherein a sinusoidal punch movement process advantageous to a powder compression, a progressive transition of compression force and high flexibility of the press are combined. SOLUTION: This press for compressing powdery materials, particularly metallic powders has an eccentric crank mechanism for driving an upper punch unit, which is provided with at least one connecting rod 3 and a crankshaft 4, and a gear 5 connected to the crankshaft to rotate together with it. The gear 5 can be driven by at least one motor (7.1 or 7.2) through at least one worm gear (6.1 or 6.2). Further, the press has an electronic control unit which is adjusted so as to be capable of the reversible operation of crankshaft 4.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide means for increasing the heat dissipation from a support ring onto a shaft, extending the availability of the support ring with reduced formation of scale thereon, and at the same time, ensuring a reliable torque transmission between the support ring and the shaft. SOLUTION: A water-coolable furnace roller has the shaft supported to the outside of the furnace to be driven in rotation, and is used for conveying a material to be transported, for example, a continuous-cast material through a roller hearth heating furnace provided with the cooling medium ducts 4 and 5 in the hollow space of the shaft and the support ring 7 which is arranged with a receiving bore 1 on the shaft and forms a conveying plane. The furnace roller is characterized in that contact surfaces at the inner diameter of the receiving bore 1 of the support ring 7 and/or at the outer diameter of the shaft 3 are formed as a polygon contour of a substantially constant diameter with the fitting surfaces 6 and 6', i.e., with a so-called weak interference.
