Abstract: The present invention relates to novel uses of Glehnia littoralis extract which controls prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) and, more specifically, to a pharmaceutical composition and health supplement for preventing or treating diseases related to PGE2 activities including Glehnia littoralis extracts or solvent fragments of the Glehnia littoralis extracts as active ingredient. The Glehnia littoralis extracts of the present invention promotes the increase of PGE2 intracell and extracell through suppression of 15-PGDH enzyme activities involved with the decomposition of PGE2, and effectively controls the activities of PGE2 by reducing expression of the same. Therefore, the Glehnia littoralis extracts of the present invention can be applied to drugs such as pharmaceutical composition and health supplement as a material to prevent or treat (improve) diseases related to PGE2 activities such as a cut, a burn, stomatitis, gastric ulcer, or gastritis so that the Glehnia littoralis extracts can have high value if being applied to the food and medical industries. More specifically, the Glehnia littoralis extracts of the present invention is a material derived from natural material and is safe without cytotoxicity so that the composition of the present invention having the same as the active ingredient can be safe for long-term usage.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a use of a Dendropanax morbifera extract as an agent for preventing and treating benign prostatic hyperplasia. More particularly, the present invention relates to a composition and a functional health food for preventing and treating benign prostatic hyperplasia, wherein the composition and functional health food comprise, as an active ingredient, a Dendropanax morbifera extract or a compound which is isolated from the extract and then purified.
