    Abstract: PURPOSE: A performance improvement apparatus of a turbocharger and a control method thereof are provided to reduce exhaust gas at low speed and low load, and to improve output, fuel efficiency and responsiveness by supplying air to a turbine of the turbocharger variably. CONSTITUTION: A performance improvement device of a turbo charger(40) at low speed is composed of an air reservoir tank(30) connecting to an air compressor of an engine(42) through a first air pipe(46), and having a check valve; a second air pipe(34) connected to supply air from the air reservoir tank to a turbine; a solenoid valve(36) controlling air supplied from the second air pipe to the turbine; and an electronic control unit(38) controlling the solenoid valve by detecting signals from an accelerator pedal sensor(54), a boost sensor and an engine rpm sensor. The solenoid valve supplies high pressure air from the air reservoir tank to an air hole of a turbine wheel housing according to the signal from the electronic control unit at low speed and low load. Performance and fuel efficiency is improved, and exhaust gas is reduced.
