Abstract: PURPOSE: An electric power steering device and a steering wheel alignment method thereof are provided to improve workability and align a steering wheel accurately through offering the steering assist of an electric power steering device to a steering wheel during the steering wheel alignment process. CONSTITUTION: An electric power steering device comprises a steering angle sensor(21), a steering angle sensor initialization detection unit(22), an ignition detection sensor(23), and an ECU(electronic control unit)(24). The steering angle sensor senses the steering angle of a steering wheel. The steering angle sensor initialization detection unit senses the initialization status of the steering angle sensor. The ignition detection sensor senses the ignition ON/OFF state of the key of an automobile. The ECU supplies rotation power to an electric motor(25) according to the initialization status of the steering angle sensor and the ignition ON/OFF state of the key of an automobile. The electric motor supplies steering assist to a steering wheel.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for preventing steering pull of a vehicle using an electric power steering system is provided to compensate steering pull due to deterioration of the vehicle by determining with calculation of the steering pull generating in various conditions. CONSTITUTION: A method for preventing steering pull of a vehicle using an electric power steering system is as follows. The electric power steering system periodically receives vehicle information. By comparing the vehicle information which a first cycle and a second cycle are received, whether the vehicle is steering pull or not and indexes of the steering pull are determined. If a system determines that the steering pull is generated, current value applying to a motor of the electric power steering system is calculated based on the indexes of the steering pull. The current is applied to the motor of the electric power steering system to supply compensated torque to a steering wheel.
