Abstract:
Halogenated alcohols used in gas phase polymerization of ethylene in combination with a Ti based catalyst component and aluminum alkyls as co-catalyst allows to efficiently suppress ethane formation and to simultaneously increase the polymerization activity.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a slurry process for preparing an ethylene polymer having a melt flow ratio F/P, which is the ratio among the melt index value measured according to ASTM 1238 condition "F" and the melt index value measured according to ASTM 1238 condition "P" of equal to or lower than 27, carried out in two or more stages of polymerization at temperatures in the range from 60 to 120°C, in which at least two of the said two or more polymerization stages are carried out under different amounts of molecular weight regulator, said process being carried out in the presence of (A) a solid catalyst component comprising Ti, Mg, halogen, having a porosity (PF), measured by the mercury method and due to pores with radius equal to, or lower than, 1µm, of at least 0.3 cm 3 /g and a surface area determined by BET method, of lower than 100 m 2 /g, and being further characterized by the fact that more than 50% of the titanium atoms are in a valence state lower than 4 and (B) of an organoaluminum compound.
Abstract:
A process for introducing a catalyst powder based on a titanium compound supported on magnesium halide into a gas-phase olefin polymerization reactor, characterized in that it comprises: (a) storing the catalyst powder under an atmosphere of a liquid C 3 -C 12 alkane; (b) withdrawing from step (a) a measured amount of said catalyst powder by means of a rotary valve; (c) transferring said metered amount of catalyst powder to a catalyst activation section by a continuous pick-up flow of a liquid C 3 -C 12 alkane; (d) contacting the catalyst powder with a liquid phase comprising an organo-aluminum compound and optionally an external donor compound, at a temperature ranging from -20 °C to 60 °C; (e) introducing the activated catalyst powder in one or more gas-phase olefin polymerization reactors, where a gaseous mixture comprising at least one alpha-olefin is subjected to polymerization.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to catalysts systems for the polymerization of olefins CH 2 =CHR, wherein R is an alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl radical having 1-12 carbon atoms, comprising (A) a solid catalyst component comprising Ti, Mg, and halogen (B) an aluminum alkyl compound and (C) a mono or dihalogenated hydrocarbon compound. Said catalyst systems have improved polymerization activity.
Abstract:
Process for the gas-phase catalytic polymerization of olefins carried out in a plurality of interconnected polymerization zones, the process comprising feeding one or more monomers to said polymerization zones in the presence of a catalyst under reaction conditions and collecting the polymer product from said polymerization zones, in which process the polymer particles grow within a first polymerization zone where a fluidized bed is formed, at least a part of said polymer particles leave said first polymerization zone to enter a second polymerization zone through which they flow downward, leave said second polymerization zone and enter a third polymerization zone through which they flow upward under fast fluidization or transport conditions, leave said third polymerization zone and are reintroduced into the first polymerization zone, thus establishing a circulation of polymer between the different polymerization zones.
