    Abstract: In the process, a mixture of bismaleimide and aminophenol is heated in the presence of an amine as addition catalyst and in the presence of an inhibitor, vinyl or allyl monomers and, if desired, epoxy resins and peroxide initiators are added, and the mixture, as a melt, is applied to reinforcing fibres. The prepregs and semifinished products can be cured to form composite materials for the automotive and aerospace industries.

    Abstract: The invention concerns thermoplastic shaping compounds containing: A) 20 to 99 wt % of a polyester, up to 90 wt % of which relative to A) can optionally be replaced by a polycarbonate or a polyamide; B) 0.1 to 7 wt % of a carbodiimide of formula (I), in which R means identical or different residues selected from the group comprising -NCO, -NHCONHR , NHCONR R and -NHCOOR , wherein R , R are identical or different and mean an alkyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl group; R is identical to R or is an alkoxy(poly)oxyalkylene group; and R ,R mean identical or different aliphatic groups with 1 to 18 carbon atoms or cycloaliphatic groups with 5 to 15 carbon atoms or aromatic groups with 6 to 15 carbon atoms; R means identical or different aliphatic groups with 2 to 20 carbon atoms and halogen or an alkoxy group; x is an integer from 0 to 4; and n is an integer from 0 to 10; and C) 0 to 75 wt % of conventional additives and processing aids, the total percentages of components A) to C) together amounting to 100 %.
