Abstract: Before adhesive substance is printed on to the panel of cement-bonded wood wool or wood chips, or on to both the panel and the wooden support structure, for the prodn. of a building element, the surface or surfaces are treated with water and a multi-valent isocyanate. A waterproof adhesive such as a formaldehyde condensate or a mixed condensate of melamine and phenol is used, and the process produces a bond which is not loosened by the penetration of water. In addition, the bonding agents used have the advantage of hardening at room temp.

Abstract: A process for bonding lignocellulose raw materials using an isocyanate group-containing urethane-modified diphenylmethane diisocyanate mixture having a viscosity of 120 to 1000 mPas at 25 DEG C. and an isocyanate content of 15 to 33.6 percent by weight which is obtained by reacting a diphenylmethane diisocyanate mixture containing 10 to 75 percent by weight of 2,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate with 0.05 to 0.5 hydroxyl equivalents of a polyol per equivalent isocyanate group.

Abstract: Resin impregnated webs, esp. for coating the surface of wood or laminate materials for furniture, are produced by applying an aq. resin preparation first to one side of a paper web. When soaked through, the other side receives the resin preparation; both sides are dried by hot air. Suitable preparations include phenol formaldehyde, urea formaldehyde and melamine formaldehyde precondensates, with a solids content of over 50%. The web is held at a temperature of 40 deg.C until it is soaked, preferably in a water vapour saturated atmosphere. The use of concentrated preparations reduces power consumption.
