    Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of (meth)acrylate polymers containing pendant (side-chain) nonlinear-optical chromophores and having moelcular weights of between 5000 and 5,000,000, in which polymers of (meth)acryloyl chloride are reacted in a polymer-analogous reaction in solution with D- omega -aminoalkyl chromophores of the formula (I) in which D is an electron donor, A is an electron acceptor, R is H, alkyl or cycloalkyl, X are CH groups and/or N atoms and m is from 2 to 11. The polymers prepared according to the invention can be used in optical components.
