Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mixture for preparing a product having excellent stability to a maturing process, specifically to hydrolysis in a polyisocyanate polyaddition reaction. SOLUTION: A mixture comprises (i) at least one isocyanate and (ii) at least one acid/or at least one acid derivative except its acid anhydride wherein (ii) is present in an amount of 0.01 to 20 wt.% based on the weight of the mixture; and the acid or the acid derivative of (ii) is present in a molar excess over any amines present in the mixture.

(ii) The isocyanate-reacting compound herein used is at least one kind of diol and/or polyol, having a mol.wt. of 400-8,000 and containing primary hydroxyl groups in an amount of at least 50% based on all hydroxyl groups contained in the compound. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyisocyanate useful as a building block made of polyurethane and combining high functionality, high reactivity, low consistency and good properties. SOLUTION: (i) An addition product A is produced by reacting a diisocyanate or a polyisocyanate I with a compound having three or more groups reactive to the isocyanate, a compound having two groups reactive thereto or the mixture of the compounds. A reaction ratio is selected so that the product A containing an average of one group having reactivity to the isocyanate. (ii) A polyaddition product P containing an average of one group having reactivity to the isocyanate and an average of more than two isocyanate groups is formed by an intermolecular addition product. (iii) The high functional polyisocyanate is obtained by reacting the product A and/or the product P with a diisocyanate or a polyisocyanate II.

Abstract: A process for the production of natural fibre-reinforced polyisocyanate-polyaddition products (I) by reacting (A) polyisocyanates with (B) isocyanate-reactive compounds and optionally (C) chain extenders and/or crosslinkers, catalysts, blowing agents and other additives etc. in the presence of natural fibres, in which at least 20 wt% of component (B) consists of ring-opened epoxidised fatty acid compounds and/or adducts of fatty acid compounds and alkylene oxides. Also claimed are (i) fibre-reinforced products (I) obtained by this process, (ii) building, packaging and furnishing materials and vehicle construction materials containing (I), and especially (iii) interior linings for vehicles containing (I). Preferably the modified fatty acid compounds in (B) are based on materials of vegetable origin, especially oleic and/or linoleic acid; preferably, at least 20 wt.% of (B) consists of hydroxylated castor oil. Preferred natural fibres are mixtures of sisal with jute, hemp and/or flax. Preferred (I) is in the form of moulded sheet with a thickness of 1-10 mm, possibly laminated with outer layers.

Abstract: Polyurethane foam is produced by reacting isocyanates with an isocyanurate and/or biuret structure with polyols of molecular weight 400-8000 containing at least 50% primary hydroxyl groups plus compounds with primary amino group(s), optionally low molecular weight diols and/or triols as chain extenders or crosslinkers, tert. amine and metal salt catalysts and water. A process for the production of foam material based on polyisocyanate-polyaddition products by reacting isocyanates with NCO-reactive compounds in the presence of blowing agents, catalysts and optionally additives etc., using (i) isocyanates with an isocyanurate and/or biuret structure; (ii) a di- and/or poly-alcohol(s) with a molecular weight of 400-8000 in which at least 50% of the hydroxyl groups are primary OH groups; (iii) a compound(s) with primary amine group(s), optionally with diols and/or triols with molecular weights of less than 400 as chain extenders and/or crosslinkers; (iv) a tert. amine(s) and/or a metal salt(s) as catalysts; and (v) water. Independent claims are also included for (a) a foam obtained by this process; and (b) a cushion material based on these products.
