Abstract: Procedimiento para la obtención de alcoholes saturados con 3 a 20 átomos de carbono, en el que se conduce a través de un lecho de un catalizador de hidrogenado una alimentación de hidrogenado líquida, que contiene al menos un aldehído seleccionado entre propanal, n-butanal, aldehído iso-butírico, hexanal, etilhexanal, etilhexenal, nonenal, nonanal, decanal, decenal, así como los productos de hidroformilado de propileno trímero, propileno tetrámero, buteno dímero o buteno trímero, en presencia de un gas hidrogenado a través de un lecho de un catalizador de hidrogenado, caracterizado porque se añade a la alimentación de hidrogenado una cantidad soluble de manera homogénea en la misma de una base salina [M+]n [An-], donde [M+] representa un ion metálico alcalino, o el equivalente de un ion metálico alcalinotérreo; [An-] representa un anión de un ácido con un valor de pKs de más de 2, y n representa la valencia del anión.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of saturated C3-C20-alcohols in which a liquid hydrogenation feed comprising at least one C3-C20-aldehyde is passed over a bed of a hydrogenation catalyst in the presence of a hydrogen-containing gas, which comprises adding to the hydrogenation feed an amount, homogeneously soluble therein, of a salt-like base. The addition of base suppresses side reactions, such as acetalization, aldolization, Tischtschenko reaction or ether formation.

Abstract: Aqueous solutions of crude dipotassium terephthalate are decolorized by treatment with active carbon in 2-5 stages in apparatus wherein the crude solution is treated with carbon that has already been used in a subsequent stage and the solution is treated with fresh carbon in the final stage. The process is applied to crude dipotassium terephthalate solutions obtained by thermal rearrangement of potassium salts of other benzenecarboxylic acids in the presence of catalysts in known manner, and the catalyst and carbonaceous material formed in the rearrangement are not separated before the treatment with active carbon. Apparatus is described and comparative experimental results are given.

Abstract: Olefins having from 2 to 8 carbon atoms are hydroformylated in a process in which (i) an olefin-containing feed in which a proportion of a saturated hydrocarbon having from 2 to 8 carbon atoms is present and also carbon monoxide and hydrogen are fed into a reaction zone and reacted in the presence of a hydroformylation catalyst, (ii) a stream consisting essentially of unreacted olefin and saturated hydrocarbon is separated off from the output from the reaction zone, (iii) the stream is separated into an olefin-enriched fraction and an olefin-depleted fraction by rectification, and (iv) at least part of the olefin-enriched fraction is recirculated to the reaction zone.
