Abstract: Special multi-metal cyanide compounds in which at least one of the metals is iron(II) or iron(III) (other than the usual alkali or alkaline earth metal or quaternary ammonium ion) are used as catalysts in a method for the production of hydroxyalkyl esters by reacting carboxylic acids with alkylene oxides.
