The embodiments disclosed herein are directed to a device and assembly useful for hand casting an electrophoretic separation medium. The device includes a cassette frame 10 comprising first and second arms or members 12,22 pivotally connected to one another. One or more hinges 35A,35B may be provided to allow the first member to swing or pivot relative to the second member 12,22 (or vice versa) between a cassette frame open position and a cassette frame closed position. The first and second members 12,22 each include a substrate 20,30 to maintain a gel interface, preferably a glass plate substrate. The assembly includes a base and clamping arms that cooperate to hold one or more cassette frames in compressed relation.
Abstract:
An apparatus for simultaneously extracting one or more analytes from a plurality of samples, the apparatus comprising a housing having an upper platform having a plurality of pins, each pin suitable for BioSPME, and a lower platform having a plurality of wells for sample solutions, such when the upper platform is fitted over the lower platform, the pins of the upper platform fit into the wells of the lower platform such that the pins are immersed into the samples, allowing for simultaneous extraction of analytes in each sample. The apparatus can be coupled with other instruments to enable measurement of total and free analytes in each sample. Also provided are methods of simultaneous extraction of analytes in a plurality of samples using the apparatus described herein.
Abstract:
A funnel-less filtration device that attaches directly to a storage container such as a cell culture media bottle. The device includes a filter collar containing one or more membranes, an inlet with a coupling device for attaching the filter device to a supply of liquid to be filtered, an outlet at a lower portion of the collar, a vacuum port in the collar below the membrane(s) and a filtered vent in the collar above the membrane(s). Optionally, the device may include a filtrate reservoir attached to the outlet, preferably by a threaded connection. Optionally, the upper opening to the filter collar is selectively and removably sealed with a lid until used. The lid is then removed the filter device inverted over a storage container such as cell culture media bottle and the two are attached via the upper opening of the filter collar. The assembly is then inverted so the supply container is above the filter device. Upon subjecting the sample in the bottle to a driving force such as vacuum, the sample flows through the filtration element, and into a filtrate reservoir below the outlet of the filter collar.

A container and a container engaging member. The container engaging member may include a sample holder or reservoir, a filtration element and collar. In the assembled condition, the sample holder or reservoir is upstream of the filtration element, the container is downstream of the filtration element, and the sample holder or reservoir is attached to the container. The container engagement member is engageable and disengageable from the bottle or container in a quick attach, quick release manner, such as with only a 90 degree, turn. A tactile and/or audible indication that the engagement is complete is provided.

The invention pertains to a filtration device (10), comprising a central jacket and first and second side panels interlocked together around said jacket, each of said side panels comprising a membrane (12A,12B) sealed thereto. The invention further pertains to a combination of said filtration device and a vial comprising an interior volume configured to receive said filtration device in a first orientation effective for concentrating sample in said sample chamber when subjected to a driving force, and in a second orientation effective for recovering concentrated sample when subjected to a driving force.
