Abstract: PURPOSE: To enhance the reliability by suppressing increase of humidity in a case incident to temperature drop. CONSTITUTION: A disc 16 is encased in a box type case body 12 having open upper surface and a magnetic head 18 for reading/writing information from/onto the disc 16 is supported by a drive mechanism 20. A cover 14 is secured to the upper part of case body 12 by means of a plurality of screws 22 and a substantially enclosed state is brought in a drive 10. A woven cloth 24A of stainless steel fibers is folded into a moisture absorbing body 24 which is disposed between the case body 12 and cover 14. The moisture absorbing body 24 is sandwiched between the lower surface of cover 14 and the bottom face of case body 12 and secured in the drive 10.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a breather filter having a structure, wherein a high-function breather filter is made thin by a high mass-production method. SOLUTION: This filter 1 is fixed in a hole 3 provided in the cover 2 of a hard disk drive(HDD). This filter 1 is constructed in such a manner that a first sheet 11 having a diffusion tube 12 formed in a position corresponding to the hole 3 provided in the cover 2 of the HDD, a second sheet 21 having an opening part 22 formed in a position corresponding to the diffusion tube 12 of the first sheet 11, a third sheet 31 having an adsorbing material layer 32 in a position corresponding to the opening part 22 of the second sheet 21, and a fourth sheet 41 composed of a filter layer for covering the adsorbing material layer 32 of the third sheet 31 are respectively prepared, and the prepared first to fourth sheets are laminated.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joning method enabling the joining of a flex cable and a circuit board which cannot be embodied with ordinary connectors on account of their dimensional restrictions in a hard disk device of an extremely small size/thin type and the hard disk device utilizing the same. SOLUTION: This joining method is the method for joining the flex cable 3 for transmitting the input and output signals to a head formed in a device body 1 of a hard disk and the circuit board 11. A groove part 2 is formed in the device body 1 and the connector 12 consisting of a projecting part of a shape insertable into the formed groove part 2 is formed at the circuit board 11. The joining part of the flex cable 3 and the connector 12 of the circuit board 11 are inserted into the groove part 2. The terminal 13 of the connector 12 and the terminal 4 of the joining part of the flex cable 3 are joined. The hard disk device has the joining part utilizing the joining method described above.
