    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remarkably reduce the damage of a magnetic recording disk by providing a shock resistive suspension assembly. SOLUTION: A head supporting mechanism has a rear part 38 whose one end is pivotally attached, a front part 39 supporting a slider including a read/ write head and a flexible hinge part 27 connecting the front part 39 to the rear part 38. In the head supporting mechanism, a protective layer 34 is provided at a position adjacent to the hinge part 27 in among the surface of the rear part opposing to a disk and at a position adjacent to the hing part 27 in among the surface of the front part 39 opposing to the disk and, moreover, at least one projecting part 35 consisting of a mechanically deformed metallic plate 33 is provided at a position adjacent to the hinge part 27 of the rear part 38 and the projecting part is coarted with the protective layer 34 of flexible polymer material selected from a group consisting of polymide resin and epoxy resin and ether-based urethane.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joning method enabling the joining of a flex cable and a circuit board which cannot be embodied with ordinary connectors on account of their dimensional restrictions in a hard disk device of an extremely small size/thin type and the hard disk device utilizing the same. SOLUTION: This joining method is the method for joining the flex cable 3 for transmitting the input and output signals to a head formed in a device body 1 of a hard disk and the circuit board 11. A groove part 2 is formed in the device body 1 and the connector 12 consisting of a projecting part of a shape insertable into the formed groove part 2 is formed at the circuit board 11. The joining part of the flex cable 3 and the connector 12 of the circuit board 11 are inserted into the groove part 2. The terminal 13 of the connector 12 and the terminal 4 of the joining part of the flex cable 3 are joined. The hard disk device has the joining part utilizing the joining method described above.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evade the collision of sliders each other due to the impact by arranging so that each of provided 1st, 2nd engaging composite surfaces engageable with tabs of 1st, 2nd load beams includes a lift slope and a park slope and also the height of the park surface of the 2nd engaging composite surface is higher than that of the park surface of the 1st engaging composite surface. SOLUTION: The height H1B of the park surface 50B of the engaging composite surface 42B is higher by a certain amount ΔH than the height H1A of the park surface 50A of the engaging composite surface 42A, and the distance between the sliders 11A, 11B is increased when the tabs 28A, 28B exist on the park surfaces 50A, 50B. The height H2B of the maximum lift surface 46B of the engaging composite surface 42B is also higher by ΔH than the height H2A of the maximum lift surface 46A of the engaging composite surface 42A. The tab 28A is brought into contact with the lift slope 44A at the time of unloading operation and separated at the time of loading operation. The distance between the sliders is increased by load/unload lamps, thereby the possibility of the collision between the sliders is reduced.
