    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a force converter which is embodied in a small construction, ensures improved signal-noise ratio, high reliability, improved performance and long lifetime, and which can be produced at a cost to assure high competitive power. CONSTITUTION: A force converter 10 includes a thin and long lever arm 12 installed on a base board having a central part and a flat tab region protruding outward from the central part along the first and the second orthogonal force sensing axis. When the external force is hitched at the free end 14 of this lever arm 12, the base board receives concentrated strain in the joint part between the tab region and central part. Thick film strain gauges 24, 26 are directly printed on the base board, at least in the first and the second position, and electroconductive pads on the board are coupled electrically with the strain gauge material in the specied positions so that the first strain gauge arranged along the first force sensing axis and the second strain gauge arranged along the second force sensing axis are partitioned.

CONSTITUTION: A plurality of display pointers 71, 72, 74, 76, 78 producible and identifiable by the user of the computer so as to allow each pointer to be related to a specific application and a location in the application are provided by a pointer system. The user recovers each pointer and a location of each pointer by selecting a pointer identifier. One pointer or over is defined as a fixed pointer (anchor pointer). Furthermore, the one pointer or over is related to one user action or over. The user action includes various functions including the click of a mouse button. Thus, the user defines the fixed pointer to select an identification character to execute a series of the user actions.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sure method and a device for detecting 'selection depressing' in a graphic input device for integrating a position input function and a selection input function. SOLUTION: When selection or selection cancellation by a user is identified, a threshold value identification filter circuit 20 compares the amplitude of the output of the graphic input device and the change rate of the amplitude with threshold value reference signals and corrects the output of the graphic input device based on the previously stored samples. Such a graphic input device is provided with an equal angle joy stick provided with a distortion gauge and a fixed resistor in a hierarchical voltage divider or the like. The output of the graphic input device is directly provided to the CPU 25 of a data processor during a masking period and the graphical operation of dragging or the like is executed while masking the unintentional change of a specified display position during the selection and the selection cancellation.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve a pressure sensor used for a keyboard by bending a base part having distortion sensing patterns so that it rises from the plane of a base, adhering it by making it lean on respective faces of the members so that it detects force given to the members and arranging it in a right-angle direction. CONSTITUTION: The patterns 102-108 which are formed by the distortion sensing transmission materials and which wind are formed on a plastic sheet 110 which is flexible to winding. Both ends of the distortion sensing patterns 102-108 are connected to lead terminal lines 112-126. Thus, the effect of circuit resistance depending on the patterns 102-108 is enlarged and the sensitivity of the distortion of the patterns is increased. One set constituted of the patterns 102 and 106 is orthogonal with the other set of the patterns 104 and 108. The rectangular part of a sheet 112 is divided by an X-form pattern and consequently the respective patterns 102-108 form different triangular pieces. The patterns 102-108 are triangles and they use a space at maximum as pieces.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To use a power supply plug for an electric outlet having a different insertion opening by causing proper contact prongs among plural protruding contact prongs to automatically proceed into the selected adaptable insertion openings of the electric outlet, and causing the rest contact prongs to be pushed into a housing. CONSTITUTION: A general purpose power supply plug 10 is composed of a housing upper portion and a lower portion 12, 14, and the lower portion 14 is integrated with a power supply portion 16 connected to a cord 18, and is ranged with the upper portion 12 in a vertical direction. In the upper portion 12, respective pairs of contact prongs 20, 22, 24, which have multinational constitution, are arranged in parallel, and move in axis directions, extend forward, and wing-like protrusions 28 are protrudingly provided on both side faces. Accordingly, the plug 10 can be inserted into a plug socket equipped with slots for the protrusions 28, and the United States, United Kingdom constitution ground prongs 30, 32 extends forward, and can slide in the lower portion 14. Thereby, the proper prongs can be automatically inserted into the insertion openings of various kinds of electric outlets, the other prongs are pushed into the plug 10, and are locked so that connection is conducted.

SOLUTION: The visual emphasis of the icon and the menu item of another form is executed by enlarging the size and/or distortion of the icon or the like corresponding to general inverse proportional relation for the closeness of a cursor image address to a specified icon or the like. By the enlargement of the size, a user easily visually confirms a normally small icon or the like, the effect of stabilizing a cursor position during selection is provided simultaneously and also the linear responsiveness of a graphic input device is not damaged. SOLUTION: When this device is slid backward with a button 62 pressed down by a user's thumb, a 1st horizontal rib 80 which exists under a flange 82 of a frame 20 is moved, and keeping a whole click button member 38 pressed down locks the device in its on state. At this time, a 2nd horizontal rib 86 which extends forward from the button 62 is simultaneously slid backward from a bottom face of a wrist support part 20a, thereby, appearing a top face 88 to which is added the bright color of the rib 86. The user can recognize the lock on state by the downward slant of the member 38 and the appearance of a brightly colored top face 88. While the member 38 is locked in its drag position, the user can drag an icon, etc., on a display with a joy stick, etc.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To attain the extension of an additional control function by starting a display operation, in response to control actuator power, designated by a tap signature identifying device and moving a cursor on a display screen according to the power applied to an actuator. CONSTITUTION: A cursor-context queue preserves a display window identifier and a cursor position inside respective display windows. A tap signature identifying device 44 recognizes power, which is coincident with a predetermined tap signature, applied to a stick controller 22 and a mouse 24 and consist of a tap corresponding to a predetermined display function. In operation, the power applied to the stick controller 22 is detected by a power converter 28, and the level and direction of the applied control power are applied to a stick interface 36. A display controller 34 receives this information, provides that information to the tap signature identifying device 44 and compares it with the control actuator power.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To facilitate the fast movement and the accurate positioning of a cursor on a computer display device by integrating a feedback means with a cursor controller. CONSTITUTION: A cursor 50 moves in a designated area of a display screen 40 in response to the signals which are sent to a computer system 20 from a keyboard 10 and a mouse 30. When the cursor moves across a boundary edge 55 of the designated area of the screen 40, the system 20 produces a feedback signal which is sent to a feedback means including the pointing rods. Then the feedback signal is sent to a feedback pointing rod 110 when the cursor movement is controlled by a pointing stick 100 and also sent to a feedback pointing rod 37 when the cursor movement is controlled by the mouse 30 respectively.
