PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a display area to be moved to a display image set outside a display screen by a touch operation using a touch panel in a general environment such as a desk top screen of an OS. SOLUTION: A data processor having a touch panel unit 100 includes: an operation event detecting part 12 for detecting an operation when a specified touch operation is performed in an operation area set on the input face of the touch panel among input operations with respect to the touch panel unit 100; a cursor movement information generating part 13 for generating movement information to move a cursor positioned in the circumferential edge of the display screen toward the outside of the display screen according to a position where the detected specified touch operation is performed; a cursor operation control part 14 for moving the position of the cursor on the display image, on the basis of the generated movement information; and a virtual screen control part 15 for scrolling the information displayed on the display screen according to the movement of the cursor. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer device or the like for safely and reliably taking the backup of the data in a HDD or the like. SOLUTION: A PC 10 is transferred to a hibernation state by performing a specified key operation or the like by a user under a regular OS. The data in the working state immediately therebefore is stored in a HDD 30. The OS of the hidden partition of the HDD 30 is booted, and a program to perform the dead copy of the HDD 30 is executed. When the dead copy to a backup HDD 40 of the HDD 30 is completed by a copy program, the system of the PC 10 is resumed to boot the regular OS, and the hibernation state is restored to the original state. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make controlable the moving of a display area to a displayed picture set on the outside of a display screen by touch operation using a touch panel in a general purpose environment such as the desk top screen of an OS. SOLUTION: This data processor provided with a touch panel unit 100 as an input means is provided with an operation event detection part 12 for detecting previously set operation, which is distinguished from normal input, among inputs to this unit 100 when this operation is carried out, a cursor moving information generating part 13 for generating moving information for moving a cursor positioned at the periphery of the display screen toward the outside of the display screen in accordance with the kind of detected operation, a cursor operation control part 14 for moving the position of the cursor on the displayed picture based on the generated moving information and a virtual picture control part 15 for scrolling the displayed contents of the display screen in accordance with moving of this cursor.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a password forcing device forcing a user to set a POP and an HDP. SOLUTION: A notebook computer for a user requiring setting of the POP and HDP is connected to a manager computer and an RIS server via a LAN, and the manager computer sets the notebook computer to a password forcing remotely. When electric power is supplied to the notebook computer set in the password forcing mode, a POST 20 determines whether it is in the password forcing mode or not, and when it is in the password forcing mode, the password forcing mode flag is not reset unless the POP and/or HDP are/is set. Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an information processor to be transitted to power saving operation by an optimum timer value while maintaining balance between usability and power management and a control method for the processor. CONSTITUTION: The information processor is transitted to a power saving mode after the lapse of time set up by a power saving timer from a final user input (or final processing operation), and when a succeeding user input (or a task restart request) is generated at a comparatively early period from the start of the power saving mode, the succeeding power saving timer is reset to a comparatively long period because a user may feel the reduction of operability due to the too short power saving timer. When time from the start of the power saving mode up to the succeeding user input is long, transition to the power saving mode is matched with a user's will, but a power saving effect can be improved by faster transi-tion so that the succeeding power saving timer is reset to a shorter time, thereby transitting the processor to power saving operation by an optimum timer value without being uninten-tionally interrupted.

SOLUTION: When a user does specific operation, a view port VP having a specific range around a mouse pointer MP is set and the display resolution of a display 12 is varied, so that the image within the range of the view port VP is enlarged and displayed in the entire display area A of the display 12. At this time, the original desktop display state is still stored in a desktop data storage part and not reset.
