Abstract: PURPOSE: To speedily and exactly align a head by providing a head suspension assembly equipped with a head carrier having two layers of wearing pads with different wearing rates. CONSTITUTION: A contact recording type disk file has a head suspension assembly 22 provided with a head carrier 24 having two layers of wearing pads 30. An outside layer 50 of that wearing pad 30 is comparatively softened rather than an inside layer 52. This layer 50 is comparatively quickly worn during the initial wearing period of the head carrier 24. Therefore, pole elements 40 and 42 of a head elongated inside the wearing pad 30 speedily contact with a disk 12 so that the initial alignment disorder of the wearing pad with the surface of the disk 12 can be corrected. Desirably, both the inside and outside wearing layers are practically formed from amorphous carbon and for the inside layer, the suitable quantity of hydrogen is added for controlling wearing resistance.

CONSTITUTION: The tape type probe 10 is a polymer tape 12 having a series of patterned probes and it is featured by having a series of metal patterns each equipped with leads 20 projecting to an opening part 22 of a polymer. End parts of the leads are so arranged as to meet input - output pads being tested. The tape type probe gives radial expansion from the pads of minute pitches on a chip being tested to rougher pitches in a testing machine.

The lubricating film 46 contains the individual fullerene molecules or their clusters 48 on the magnetic layer 44 and the amorphous carbon 50 deposited by sputtering on the magnetic layer 44 couples the fullerene molecules or their clusters 48 to the disk by enclosing these molecules or clusters.
