    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a single-point bonding device for jointing a thin line or very thin line to another conductor by ultrasonic wave. CONSTITUTION: On a bonding chip 15, a thin-film resistor 20 is integrally formed by a standard photolithographic method which is used for bonding device. With a thermal energy combination such as ultrasonic wave energy and a resistor, a desired jointing energy is obtained. The jointing energy is localized in time and space. Thereby, the energy transmission to a selected work is optimized, resulting in least the possibility of damaging an adjoining heat-sensitizing element.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bridge circuit magnetic field sensor utilizing an SV sensor. SOLUTION: This sensor is provided with a substrate, first, second, third, and fourth spin valve elements A to D, and a conductor which is formed on the substrate and is mutually connected with the four elements A to D. The elements A to D are respectively provided with a free ferromagnetic layer 36 that has a proper magnetizing axis when no magnetic field is applied, a non-magnetic spacer layer 37 adjacent to the layer 36, and a pinning ferromagnetic layer 39 adjacent to the layer 37. The magnetizing axis is pinned at a certain angle to the proper magnetizing axis of the layer 36, and four magnetizing axes of four free layers are parallel to each other substantially, the four magnetizing axes of four pinning layers 39 are parallel or inversely parallel to each other substantially.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To considerably increase the sensitivity of a sensor by permitting magnetization in two ferromagnetic layers to respond to applied magnetic signals and providing an MR sensor supplying a measurement signal reinforced by the magnetic signals. CONSTITUTION: One slider 13 is positioned on a disk 12 and respective sliders 13 support plural magnetic read/write converters 21. When the disk 12 rotates, the slider 13 operates inwards and outwards in the direction of a radius on a disk surface 22. A head 21 can access to various parts where desired data are recorded on the disk 12. The respective sliders 13 are fitted to actuator arms 19 by a suspending device 15. The suspending device 15 generates slight spring force and the sliders 13 are pressed on the disk surface 22 by the force. The respective actuator arms 19 are fitted to an actuator means 27 and a coil which can move in a fixed magnetic field is provided for a voice coil motor 18. The moving direction and speed of the coil are controlled by a motor radio wave signal.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain an integrated thin film magnetic recording head which is provided with essentially independent read and write circuits and which can be designed highly efficiently. CONSTITUTION: The magnetic recording head is provided with an integrated, inductive writing, magnetoresistive(MR) reading thin film magnetic head provided with an open magnetic yoke 16 having outer legs and a center leg. The outer leg, with one ends superposed on each other, constitutes oppositely facing pole pieces having a conversion gap 28 between the pole pieces, while the center leg, with one end situated between the hole pieces, connects with the outer legs with the other end and constitutes the symmetric magnetic yoke 16. The center leg is provided with a hole opening, with an MR element 30 connected while crossing the hole opening. Each outer leg is equipped with a coil 18, 20; its direction is such that a magnetic flux generated by equal activation becomes equal and passes into opposite direction, while a net magnetic flux is not produced in the center leg. In the reading operation, magnetization rotates in the MR element through the reaction with a magnetic field read out by the conversion gap. In the writing operation, no magnetic flux flows in the center leg because of the symmetry of the magnetic yoke, thereby minimizing disturbance of the reading head due to write-in.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To enable partial change of electric or magnetic characteristics (of a magnetic structure) by forming the layer-shaped structure, including the layer of magnetic material and an upper layer, and imparting the thermal energy, which is sufficient to perform interaction selectively between the materials of the upper layer and the lower layer which accompany the magnetic material layers to the magnetic structure. CONSTITUTION: A magnetoresistance(MR) sensor includes a soft magnetic bias layer 26, which is deposited on a lower layer 25 such as tantalum on a substrate 24. A spacer layer 28 is deposited to an active region 30 at the center of the MR sensor, and patterning is performed. Then, an MR layer 32 such as NiFe is deposited. Furthermore, for example, an upper layer 34 of tantalum is deposited only to the central region, and patterning is performed. Thereafter, the entire structure undergoes instantaneous thermal annealing, and the magnetic characteristics of an end region 36 are changed. Thus, the high-saturating coercive force in magnetization of the end region 36 is obtained. The end region 36 is aligned by applying a large longitudinal magnetic field from the outside, and the continuous magnetic flux is imparted between the central region 30 of the MR sensor and the end region 36. Thus, electric or magnetic characteristics of the magnetic structure can be partially changed.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a spin valve magneto-resistive (SVMR) sensor having an antiferromagnetic layer which is resistant to corrosion and is high in blocking temp. by using laminated antiparallel pin stopping layers in combination with the antiferromagnetic layer of an improved type. SOLUTION: The antiferromagnetic layer(AF) 57 is nickel oxide and a layer 57 is formed on a seed layer 55. PF1 /APC/PF2 laminated pin stopping layers 70 are formed on the layer 57. Two-layered ferromagnetic layers 72, 74 are formed of Co and are separated by antiparallel coupled(APC) films 73 of nonferromagnetic materials which are formed of Co and are equal or approximately equal in magnetic moment and antiferromagnetically strongly bond PF1 and PF2 . The Co films 72, 74 in the layers 70 are oriented antiparallel in magnetization direction as shown by arrows 75, 76. The magnetic moments in the films 72, 74 are, therefore, negated by each other and the net magnetic moment in the layers 70 is extremely small or does not substantially exist. Consequently, the amplitude of high exchange magnetic fields is resulted.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To attain batch manufacturing by constituting a head and a suspension as one unit by providing a coil and a suspension means electrically insulated from first and second magnetic pole pieces which magnetically activate those magnetic pole pieces. CONSTITUTION: In a combined read assembly 30, for example, full lengh forming a suspension part 37 has relatively uniform thickness, and one end is made rather thick. A magnetic read/write head 40 is formed in a rectangular main body made of dielectric materials such as Al2 O3 or SiO2 , and a slider air bearing surface(ABS) is pattern-formed on the lower face. The ABS is provided with a formed projection 33 on the lower face of the assembly 30, and the surface is covered with an abrasion resistant layer 35 such as a diamond-shaped carbon so that abrasion and damage when the assembly 30 is brought into contact with the medium surface are reduced. Thus, an integral combined magnetic transducer/suspension assembly suitable for both contact recording and Winchester type can be obtained.
