    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lift table that will not cause an object plate to be displaced in X and Y directions, in a simple, sufficiently stable structure. SOLUTION: The lift table includes a bearing frame (1), and the object plate (2), hinged to the bearing frame (1) and bearing an object. The lift table is particularly used in a focusing table for a microscope. The object plate (2) is hinged to the bearing frame (1) via a parallel connecting device (3) so as to be vertically moved, without inclining to the bearing frame (1). In such a lift table, the parallel connecting device (3) has parallel connecting sections (4 and 5).     Abstract: A confocal scanning microscope for examining microscopic and macroscopic objects is described. The microscope comprises: a scanning optical system having optical elements imaging the light generated by a laser onto an object to be examined; an objective provided in a working distance of at least 0.4 inches from an object holder; and a zoom optical system that is connected to the scanning optical system such that the light generated by the laser passes first through the scanning optical system, then through the zoom optical system, and is then imaged through the objective onto the object. This microscope achieves that also macroscopic objects can be viewed at a high resolution.
