    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a comparatively inexpensive and lightweight convergent module for a divergent light source by providing the module with a 1st aperture for restricting a circular part for receiving a laser diode assembly and a 2nd aperture end for restricting a 2nd circular part having diameter smaller than that of the 1st circular part. CONSTITUTION: A diode holder 30 has the 1st circular part 35 and the 2nd circular part 31 having shorter diameter than the 1st circular part 35. A lens holder 40 is held in the holder 30. The 1st circular part 35 holds the flange 41 of the holder 40. The flange 41 has a diameter larger than that of the 2nd circular part 31 and the holder 40 is prevented from being rotated around the center axis of the holder 30 due to the existence of a notch 49 in the flange 41 of the holder 40 which is cooperated with a groove 32 formed in the 1st circular part 35. Consequently an highly accurate focusing or convergent module having inexpensive structure can be obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To use this device in various modes such as hand holding and arm holding by constituting a scanning module by fixing constituting members except a mirror to a common assembly, and fixing it to each kind of housing so as to be converted. CONSTITUTION: A scanner 10 is provided with a hand type housing 12 whose inside part is divided into an upper half 16 and a lower half 18 by a base 14. A high speed scanning motor 20 is set on the base 14, an U-shaped supporting body 26 is fixed to an output axial part 22 instead of a plane mirror, a laser 1 optical part assembly 28 is fixed to the supporting body 26, and the assembly 28 and the supporting body 26 are shaken and rotated altogether by the axial part 22. The assembly 28 is provided with a hollow slender tube 30, laser diode 32 fixed to one end, lens barrel 34 fixed to the other end, and focusing lens held in the lens barrel 34. An opening through-diaphragm is provided at the end wall of the lens barrel 34, and the lens barrel 34 is fixed in nest type so as to be moved in a vertical direction in the tube 30.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a compact bar code scanner which can operate scanning in one of several modes by including a double resonance structure which generates a (y) vertical scanning motion with either a high frequency or a low frequency. CONSTITUTION: A light beam from a proper source such as a visible laser diode(VLD) 26 is introduced to a high speed horizontal (x) deflection array 28 in which the (x) scanning deflection of the beam is operated at a high speed at first. The obtained (x) scanning beam is introduced to a vertical (y) deflection array 30 in which the vertical scanning deflection of the beam is operated at a low speed or a high speed, and raster and full directional scanning patterns are generated, or the vertical scanning deflection is not operated. The array 30 includes a flexible base having two degree of mechanical freedom for providing two resonating states, that is, low frequency (y) scanning for the raster pattern, and high frequency (y) scanning for the full directional pattern. Also, the array 30 is driven by an electromagnetic force generated by a coil 44 surrounding a permanent magnet 42 fixed to the array 30.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an improved ergonomics-design hand-held data inputting terminal device for reading such a display as the bar code symbol. CONSTITUTION: A hand-held data inputting terminal device 10 is provided with a housing 12 and a scanning head 18 which is attached to the housing 12 so that the head 18 can make pivoting motions at least between first and second reading positions. During operation, the head 18 optically scans an encoded symbol and, at the same time, detects the light reflected from the encoded symbol while the head 18 is at the first or second reading position. The user of the terminal device 10 can use either one of first and second trigger switches attached to the housing 12 as a scanning head actuating switch and the other trigger switch as a shift key for deciding the form of characters inputted from alphanumeric data inputting keys on a key pad 16 fitted to the housing 12 together with an LCD display 14.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To easily attain an operation without occupying a space on a desk by hanging a bar code reading device from a ceiling, and adjusting the vertical height. CONSTITUTION: A laser scanning device 10 is supported from a ceiling 12 of a room through an appropriate flexible cable 14, and the height can be adjusted by pulling in and out the cable 14 in a cable length adjuster 16. The laser scanning device 10 can be hanged on a surface 20 of a supporting stand on which a merchandise 22 or the like is placed, and a bar code can be read. Such laser scanning device 10 is hanged from the ceiling and the height can be adjusted so that the merchandise 22 can be operated by both hands without occupying a place.
