    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the method for producing a polyester by which fouling in a rectifying column is prevented and an excellent process stability is obtd. CONSTITUTION:A polyester is produced by reacting a dicarboxylic acid component with an alkylene glycol under the condition that at least a part of the reflux is replaced with water purer than the distillate at the rectifying step wherein low-boiling by-products produced at the esterification step are removed from the reaction system.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polymer having high transparency or a dull polymer, etc., with little material loss in high operation efficiency by adding calcium carbonate at the initial stage of condensation, carrying out the polymerization and optionally kneading titanium oxide to the polymer during or after the discharge of the polymer from the polymerization tank. CONSTITUTION:The objective polyester can be produced by carrying out the preliminary condensation of ethylene terephthalate, transferring the condensate to a 1st polymerization tank 4 with a gear pump 9, adding preferably 0.05-0.20wt.% (based on the produced polyester) of calcium carbonate having an average primary particle diameter of 0.01-0.8mum in a state of slurry dispersed in ethylene glycol, etc., progressing the polymerization by evacuating the system with vacuum pumps 14, 15, 16, extracting a part of the produced polymer at or after the outlet port of the polymerization tank using a distribution apparatus 18, kneading the extracted polymer with a titanium oxide having a primary particle diameter of preferably 0.01-0.80mum e.g. as a master polymer using a kneader 17 and, as necessary, passing through a static mixer 19.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain polyester chips low in water content by transporting cut chips while holding them to a reduced pressure state or a pressurized state to store them in a first storage tank and to dry the polyester chips at low temp. without lowering productivity. CONSTITUTION: Polyethylene terephthalate produced by polycondensation reaction is extruded from a cap in a strand shape at a speed of 5 ton/hr by applying pressure to a polycondensation vessel and the extruded polymer is cooled and solidified by water and cut by a cutter to form chips. The chips are discharged from the cutter to be supplied to a centrifugal separation type dehydrator to remove a part of bonded moisture and the dehydrated chips are transported over a distance of 30m by pressure feed type transport equipment having capacity of 6 ton/hr to be charged in a chip storage tank to be stagnated for one hr. By this constitution, the chips are dried at low temp. and the moisture content of the chips supplied to a drying process is reduced without lowering productivity.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title polymer reduced in diethylene glycol by blending an oligomer produced by a direct polymerization method with a 2-hydroxyethyl ester of isophthalic acid having a sulfonic acid salt group in each specific reaction ratio of product and then adding titanium oxide thereto. CONSTITUTION:Terephthalic acid is reacted with ethylene glycol to afford (A) a direct-polymerization oligomer having >=90mol% esterification reaction ratio. On the other hand, a dialkyl ester of isophthalic acid having a sulfonic acid salt group is reacted with ethylene glycol to afford (B) a 2-hydroxyethyl ester having 5-40% ester interchange reaction ratio and the component B is successively added to the component A for 5-40min and the mixture is retained at 230-260 deg.C for 5-40min and then (C) titanium oxide is added to the mixture and the component B is subjected to polycondensation with the component A to provide the aimed polymer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the title high quality polymer within a shortened reaction time while preventing the inactivation and insolubilization of an organotitanium compound catalyst by adding a hindered phenolic compound as a stabilizer to a solution of the catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A process for producing a polybutylene terephthalate by using terephthalic acid or its derivative and 1,4-butanediol as the principal materials, wherein a hindered phenolic compound, e.g. pentaerithritol tetrakis[3-(3,5-di-t- butyl-4hydroxyphenyl)propionate], is added to a solution of an organotitanium compound used as a reaction catalyst. The stability of the catalyst solution can be markedly improved, and a large amount of the solution can be prepared at once. The organotitanium compound catalyst can be prevented from being inactivated and insolubilized by hydrolysis, so that the reaction time can be shortened and the quality of the formed polymer can be markedly improved in the production of the title polymer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of tetrahydrofuran as a by-product and to shorten the reaction time by performing the esterification reaction of a dicarboxylic acid component with a glycol component and a polyalkylene glycol in the presence of a polyester/polyether copolymer and a specified reaction catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The esterification reaction of a dicarboxylic acid component based on terephthalic acid with a glycol component based on 1,4-butanediol and a polyalkylene glycol is performed in the presence of a polyester/polyether copolymer and an organotitanium compound and/or an organotin compound, and the formed ester is polycondensed. The polyester/polyether copolymer added in the above reaction is a polymer obtained from terephthalic acid, 1,4butanediol and a polyalkylene glycol by a well-known method, and when the above production process is continuously performed, the polymer formed in situ can be applied.
