An oscillator (100) for providing an oscillating voltage for a powder spray coating device (200) is specified. With the aim of improving operational safety, the oscillator (100) as claimed in the invention has a first signal generator (10) for generating an intermediate circuit voltage (11), a second signal generator (20) for generating a modulation signal (21) and a modulation signal isolating element (61), connected to the second signal generator (20), while a first voltage monitoring device (60) is also provided, designed for continuously measuring the oscillator voltage (34), comparing it with at least one specified or specifiable oscillator voltage reference value and, if a first comparison criterion is satisfied, outputting a modulation isolating signal (80) to the modulation signal isolating element (61).
Abstract:
A nozzle assembly for a material application device includes an expansion chamber for slowing down the velocity of powder fed to the nozzle from a dense phase pump. The nozzle assembly includes a nozzle insert that forms the expansion chamber and provides air assist function. The nozzle includes an integral deflector, and further includes a passageway for a charging electrode so that the electrical path is routed away from the powder path, while permitting the electrode tip to be centered in the powder spray pattern from the nozzle. The nozzle also includes air wash for the electrode. The nozzle outlet orifice has a cross-sectional area that is equal to or greater than the inlet cross-sectional area so that a slow moving dense phase powder cloud is produced by the nozzle.
Abstract:
A powder hopper is provided with a low turbulence zone for supplying powder to a spray gun. The low turbulence zone is defined by a baffle inside the hopper with the low turbulence zone being within a volume of the baffle, and an annular zone between the baffle and the hopper is used to bulk feed powder into the hopper. The low turbulence zone may alternatively be in the annular zone with powder added to the volume of the baffle. One preferred application for this hopper is in connection with the use of fine powder coating materials to coat the interior of small diameter cans.

A control device for a powder spray coating device and a powder spray coating device are specified. With the aim of ensuring operational reliability during the coating operation of the powder spray coating device, while at the same time preserving the required coating efficiency, the solution according to the invention provides for the control device an assessment device, an enabling device and a first communication interface, the assessment device being designed for assessing on the basis of at least one code received from the powder spray coating device by means of the first communication interface whether or not reliable operation of the powder spray coating device is ensured and passing on the assessment result to the enabling device, the enabling device being designed in turn for enabling operation if the assessment result is positive.

Spraying apparatus and methods that employ multiple nozzle structures for producing multiple sprays of particles, e.g., nanoparticles, for various applications, e.g., pharmaceuticals, are provided. For example, an electrospray dispensing device may include a plurality of nozzle structures, wherein each nozzle structure is separated from adjacent nozzle structures by an internozzle distance. Sprays of particles are established from the nozzle structures by creating a nonuniform electrical field between the nozzle structures and an electrode electrically isolated therefrom.

Electrostatic deposition of high performance powdered materials onto gas turbine surfaces. The process also includes post-deposition thermal staging of the deposited powder to provide a durable coating that will satisfy the demands of turbine engine operation. The process envisions application of organic-based powdered materials, glass/ceramic powdered materials and metal-based powdered materials and combinations thereof using electrostatic techniques to components exposed to low temperature operations, such as may be found in the front section of a gas turbine engine or to the exterior portions of an aircraft engine, and metal-containing glass ceramics, glass-ceramic materials, or materials that can be transformed into glass ceramic materials, when applied to components exposed to high temperature operations, such as may be found in the turbine and exhaust sections of a gas turbine engine or the flaps of an aircraft.

A dense phase powder coating system includes a powder supply, dense phase pump, a spray gun and a diverter valve that can be used to select between conveying powder to the spray gun or circulating the powder back to the powder supply. The diverter valve may include two pneumatically actuate valve members. In one embodiment, the powder spray gun applies powder coating material to inside surfaces of a tubular container. A spray nozzle concept also is presented having a nozzle body with a conical deflector. The spray nozzle provides an uninterrupted flow between spray nozzle outlet holes and a deflector surface. The deflector may be integrally machined with the nozzle body to provide a one piece spray nozzle.

The present invention generally relates to an electrostatic coating apparatus for spraying a stream of particles onto a medium, and in particular to an apparatus equipped with a powder coating suspension device such as a multivolume chamber, or a air stream creation device. What is also contemplated is the use of a plurality of variable openings in the enclosure, used in conjunction with a plurality of conductors, to dispose a stream of particles onto a moving medium in successive layers. In yet another embodiment, the stream of particles is directed in a directional electrical field created by electrodes placed adjacent to directional shields. The present disclosure relates to an in-line industrial device able to coat paint, starch, thermoplastic materials, or any other powder material onto a medium by successively controlling a plurality of parameters.
