Abstract: The present invention relates to a low-dust, high insulation aerogel blanket and a method for producing the same. More specifically, the present invention provides a method for producing a low-dust, high insulation aerogel blanket, wherein a plate type Mg(OH)2.MgO.SiO2 powder is added to a silica sol, thereby being capable of reducing the generation of dust with excellent flame retardancy and thermal conductivity, and an aerogel blanket produced thereby.

Abstract: A method of preparing an acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) sheet includes: a first step of hydrophilizing the surface of an ABS substrate by coating a surfactant solution on the substrate; a second step of washing the surfactant-coated ABS substrate with distilled water and drying the surfactant-coated ABS substrate; a third step of forming an intermediate film by coating poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophen)-polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT-PSS) on top of the dried ABS substrate; and a fourth step of coating a fluorinated polymer solution of poly(vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene) on top of the intermediate film.

Abstract: A method of applying a nanocrystalline metal coating to a titanium or titanium alloy blade of a gas turbine engine is described. The method includes selecting an intermediate bond coat from the group consisting of nickel, nickel alloy, P, B, Tl and combinations thereof, and applying the intermediate bond coat to at least a portion of the blade. A nanocrystalline metal coating having an average grain size of between 10 nm and 500 nm is then applied to the portion of the blade overtop of the intermediate bond coat.

Abstract: A process and apparatus for producing a gradient nanovoided article, a gradient nanovoided coating, and a gradient low refractive index coating is described. The process includes providing a first solution of a polymerizable material in a solvent, and providing a first environment proximate a first region of the coating and a different second environment proximate an adjacent region of the coating. The process further includes at least partially polymerizing the polymerizable material to form a composition that includes an insoluble polymer matrix and a second solution. The insoluble polymer matrix includes a plurality of nanovoids that are filled with the second solution, and a major portion of the solvent from the second solution is removed. A first volume fraction of the plurality of nanovoids proximate the first region of the coating is less than a second volume fraction of the plurality of nanovoids proximate an adjacent of the coating. An apparatus for the process is also described, and includes a web line, a coating section, a partial polymerization section, and a solvent removal section.
