Abstract: A process for providing heat to an industrial facility comprises contacting a hydrocarbon fuel with oxygen in a reaction zone under partial oxidation conditions including a below stoichiometric oxygen to fuel molar ratio for full combustion to generate heat in the reaction zone and produce a gaseous effluent stream containing carbon monoxide. At least part of the carbon monoxide from the gaseous effluent stream is converted to one or more of chemical products different from carbon monoxide transferring at least part of the heat generated in reaction zone and/or contained in the gaseous effluent stream is transferred to a separate operation in the industrial facility.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for interfacing multiple layers of optimization for a model of one or more processes in a processing environment to achieve increased or maximized stability in the underlying layer. To improve consistency between the solutions at the different model levels, the lower level of optimization can have extra constraints added to the optimization problem which target variables at their unconstrained values in the upper layer of optimization. The systems and methods can facilitate selection of variables to receive an external target such that stability of the solution is improved or maximized. This can be achieved, at least in part, by identifying variables that provide a reduced or minimized condition number for a sub-matrix in the lower level model when an additional external constraint is applied. The sub-matrix with the reduced or minimized condition number can correspond to a partitioned portion of the gain matrix that corresponds to unconstrained independent variables and constrained dependent variables.

Abstract: A Flexicoking™ unit which retains the capability of converting heavy oil feeds to lower boiling liquid hydrocarbon products while making a fuel gas from rejected coke to provide only a minimal coke yield. The heater section of the conventional three section unit (reactor, heater, gasifier) is eliminated and all or a portion of the cold coke from the reactor is passed directly to the gasifier which is modified by the installation of separators to remove coke particles from the product gas which is taken out of the gasifier for ultization. In one embodiment, a portion of cold coke is transferred directly from the reactor to the gasifier, and another portion of cold coke is combined with hot, partly gasified coke particles transferred directly from the gasifier to the reactor. The hot coke from the gasifier is passed directly to the coking zone of the reactor to supply heat to support the endothermic cracking reactions and supply seed nuclei for the formation of coke in the reactor. Coke is withdrawn from the gasifier to remove excess coke and to purge the system of metals and ash.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for conversion of light paraffinic gases to form liquid products in a process performed in a fixed bed radial-flow reactor. The light paraffins can correspond to C3+ paraffins. Examples of liquid products that can be formed include C6-C12 aromatics, such as benzene, toluene, and xylene. The fixed bed radial-flow reactor can allow for improved control over the reaction conditions for paraffin conversion in spite of the fixed bed nature of the reactor. This can allow the process to operate with improved efficiency while reducing or minimizing the complexity of operation relative to non-fixed bed reactor systems.

Abstract: Compositions corresponding to marine diesel fuels, fuel oils, jet fuels, and/or blending components thereof are provided that include at least a portion of a natural gas condensate fraction. Natural gas condensate fractions derived from a natural gas condensate with sufficiently low API gravity can provide a source of low sulfur, low pour point blend stock for formation of marine diesel and/or fuel oil fractions. Natural gas condensate fractions can provide these advantages and/or other advantages without requiring prior hydroprocessing and/or cracking.
