Abstract:
A method and device to determine quantitatively the surface optical characteristics of an object of reference made up of a plurality of optically differentiable layers. The device includes lighting and image capture means, connected to analysing means which execute the method to obtain the parameters of the repair material components best fitting the optical characteristics of the dental environment of the subject under treatment. The result of the analysis through the method in the invention consists mainly in the identification of each one of the various materials which should constitute the different layers, as well as their respective thicknesses, and which are to lead to a dental repair with optimum optical characteristics. It is thus achieved that the repair be visually imperceptible, both under natural light and under ultraviolet light.

A reader device for identifying a color property in an area of interest and presenting content in response. The reader device comprises a light source unit for emitting a number of monochromatic lights having different wavelength bands toward the area of interest and a single photoelectric sensor for intercepting a reflection of the monochromatic lights from the area of interest, thereby providing the color property output and presenting the content according to the color property.
Abstract:
RGB filter set and color estimation performance for RGB LED color sensing is provided. A criteria function describing an error between desired color matching functions and a spectral response of an RGB filter set is constructed. RGB filter set response characteristics based on the criteria function are then determined. Finally, color estimation parameters for substantially optimal color estimation with the RGB filter set are determined based upon the determined RGB filter set response characteristics. Computer readable code for constructing a criteria function is provided. Computer readable code for determining RGB filter set response characteristics is also provided. Finally, computer readable code for determining color estimation parameters is provided.
Abstract:
A system and method for color measurements or other spectral measurements of a material are provided. An illuminating device generates light for illuminating a sample of material. A detector detects light that has interacted with the sample and provides a measurement of the light that has interacted with the sample. A controller adjusts a duty cycle of the illuminating device to control the illumination of the sample. The measurement could be used by an analyzer to determine a spectral characteristic of the sample (such as a color of the sample). The determination of the spectral characteristic could be done without using any measurement of light that has not interacted with the sample. One or multiple light emitting diodes (LEDs) could be used to illuminate the sample, and the duty cycle of individual LEDs or groups of LEDs could be adjusted.
Abstract:
A light fixture, using one or more solid state light emitting elements utilizes a diffusely reflect chamber to provide a virtual source of uniform output light, at an aperture or at a downstream optical processing element of the system. Systems disclosed herein also include a detector, which detects electromagnetic energy from the area intended to be illuminated by the system, of a wavelength absent from a spectrum of the combined light system output. A system controller is responsive to the signal from the detector. The controller typically may control one or more aspects of operation of the solid state light emitter(s), such as system ON-OFF state or system output intensity or color. Examples are also discussed that use the detection signal for other purposes, e.g. to capture data that may be carried on electromagnetic energy of the wavelength sensed by the detector.
Abstract:
To generate a reference database for a particular sensor in a multiple LED spectrophotometric system with a reduced number of test measurements taken from training samples, a first set of reflectance reference measurements are generated from a test target on to a reference sensor from a plurality of different LED emissions. A first spectral reconstruction reference matrix is computed by performing an operational characterization of the reference sensor from the first set of reflectance reference measurements. A second set of reflectance reference measurements from the test target is generated from a second subject sensor whose operation is to be personalized by the objective reference database. The second set of reflectance reference measurements are less in number than the first set. A second reconstruction matrix is computed by performing an operational characterization of the subject sensor from the second set of measurements. The second reconstruction matrix is adjusted by relating the second set of reflectance measurements to a set of corresponding reflectance measurements of the reference sensor, whereby the adjusting of the second matrix comprises computing an optimal solution spectral reconstruction matrix for the second sensor. The reference database is generated from the optimal solution spectral reconstruction matrix.
Abstract:
An image processing system is used for dentistry. Upon creating a false tooth of a patient (59), a plurality of illuminating light of LEDs with different wavelengths emit light and a photographing apparatus (1A) photographs a tooth portion of the patient (59), thereby obtaining image data. The image data is sent to a dentistry filing system (2A) serving as a processing apparatus, and color reproducing data is obtained by calculation. The color reproducing data is sent to a dentistry factory (55) via a public line. Data is searched from a database (56) for calculating a ceramic compounding ratio, compound data of the ceramic false tooth is obtained, matching the color of the tooth portion of the patient (59), and the false tooth approximate to the tooth color of the patient (59) is created.
Abstract:
A color measurement system includes a hand held color measurement instrument, which may be provided with a wireless interface to a computer. The color measurement system includes a scanning guide for holding the hand held color measurement instrument in proper alignment with a color target. The scanning guide includes a calibration reference to allow convenient calibration of the hand-held color measurement instrument. The hand-held color instrument includes an illumination ring to provide visual feedback to the user. The color of the illumination ring changes in order to display a color similar to that being read by the hand-held color measurement instrument. Color management profiling of the hand held color measurement instrument illumination ring improves the color rendition capability of the illumination ring.

Abstract:
A tristimulus colorimeter for measuring reflective or transmissive materials is provided. The colorimeter measures a sample under a calibrated light source, receives inputs to detectors, and determines CIE tristimulus values of the same sample as they would occur under a reference light source. The colorimeter includes a calibrated light source and a single silicon chip that includes three or more detectors. Each detector is permanently coated by a different mix of dyes or other colorants that form a wavelength-selective filter. A single silicon chip embodies all the detectors and electronics, with each detector coated over by deposited filter layers.
