Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming section to form a correction pattern, a reading unit to read the pattern and generate first data, a color converter to convert the first data into second data, a memory to store density conversion data for a recording medium, a determiner to determine whether the memory contains the conversion data for the recording medium the pattern is formed, an acquisition unit to acquire spectral measured by an external colorimeter the memory does not contain the conversion data, a first density converter to convert the spectral data into density data, a density conversion data generator to correlate the second data and the density data and generate the conversion data, a second density converter to convert the second data into the density data using the conversion data, and a correction curve generator to generate correction curve data based on the density data.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a sheet feeder, a sheet conveyor, an image former, a fixer, a colorimeter and a processor. The fixer fixes an image formed on a sheet by the image former. The colorimeter is provided on a down-stream side than the fixer in a sheet conveying direction and reads the image. The processor calibrates the colorimeter based on the image read by the colorimeter. When an image for calibration which is formed in advance on a color sample housed in the sheet feeder is made to be read by the colorimeter, the processor controls at least one of the sheet conveyor, the image former and the fixer according to a condition for controlling deterioration of the color sample which is different from a condition of when carrying out an image forming.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus is configured to: acquire a correction factor from a recording unit for recording, for each of a plurality of pixels, the correction factor for correcting a difference in pixel value corresponding to a difference between a spectral sensitivity and a preset reference spectral sensitivity in a predetermined wavelength range at a pixel of interest, based on image data generated by an image sensor, the image sensor having the plurality of pixels on which color filters of a plurality of colors with different spectral transmittances are respectively located, the color filters forming a predetermined array pattern; calculate a correction amount for correcting a pixel value of the pixel of interest based on the correction factor at the pixel of interest and pixel values of pixels surrounding the pixel of interest; and correct the pixel value of the pixel of interest by using the correction amount.
