Abstract: The methods and systems disclosed here relate to treating water. In certain embodiments, a treatment system comprises an electrochemical water treatment device, a recirculating concentrate stream in fluid communication with the electrochemical water treatment device, a flow control device in fluid communication with a first flow path comprising acidic water and configured to be in fluid communication with the recirculating concentrate stream, and a second flow path comprising feed water and configured to be in fluid communication with the recirculating concentrate stream, and a control system in communication with the flow control device. The treatment system may further comprise a recirculating dilution stream in fluid communication with a second inlet and a second outlet of the electrochemical water treatment device.

Abstract: A device for detecting the presence of hydrocarbon fluid in runoff water includes an outer canister and a cartridge situated within the outer canister. The cartridge includes a pre-filter, at least one containment vessel, a diffuser/separator member situated within the containment vessel, a hydrocarbon fluid accumulator and an electronic circuit. The diffuser/separator member slows the flow of runoff water entering the containment vessel so that oil in the runoff water separates from and rises to the surface of the water where it accumulates in the hydrocarbon fluid accumulator. A sensor situated in the hydrocarbon fluid accumulator detects the accumulated oil and sends a signal to the electronic circuit which, in turn, closes a valve and prevents water from flowing through an egress opening in the outer canister.

Abstract: A water purifier that includes: a filter unit that is configured to purify water; a cooling unit that is configured to cool water purified by the filter unit using cooling water; a water discharge unit that is configured to discharge water cooled by the cooling unit; a cold water flow path that couples the cooling unit to the water discharge unit and through which water cooled by the cooling unit passes; a cold water discharge valve that is coupled to a first side of the cooling unit and that is configured to control water flow inside the cold water flow path; and a check fitting unit that is coupled to a first side of the water discharge unit and that is configured to block pressure change inside the cold water flow path is disclosed.

Abstract: A filtration system for a pull-down or pull-out faucet includes a multi-channel hose configured to fluidly couple to a spray head, a water filter configured to provide filtered water, and a diverter-equipped T-connector. Abstract: A fluid deionizer includes at least one graphene sheet perforated with apertures dimensioned to allow a flow of fluid and to disallow at least one particular type of ion contained in the flow of fluid. A purge valve is placed in an open position so as to collect the at least one particular type of ion disallowed by the graphene sheet so as to clean off the at least one graphene sheet. Another embodiment provides a deionizer with graphene sheets in cylindrical form. A separation apparatus is also provided in a cross-flow arrangement where a pressurized source directs a medium along a path substantially parallel to at least one sheet of graphene from an inlet to an outlet. The medium flows through the plural perforated apertures while a remaining portion of the medium and the disallowed components in the medium flow out the outlet.
