Abstract:
An ink for high-speed printing is formulated by controlling the phase angle of the ink to less than 60° at a frequency of 10 Hz when the ratio of the total non-volatiles volume fraction of the ink to the maximum total non-volatiles volume fraction of the ink is a ratio between about 0.40 to about 0.90. An ink for high-speed printing includes one or more resins, one or more colorants, one or more solvents, and one or more additives. The ink can be a flexographic ink, a rotogravure ink, a heatset offset ink, or a publication gravure ink. A print of the ink includes less than 1% of pinholes by area. The ink is applied to a substrate, which moves at a speed of greater than 1200 feet/min.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods for using color inconstancy pigments and/or dyes, such as rare earth doped color inconstancy pigments, in security applications including semi-overt and covert security application.
Abstract:
Certain poly(oxyalkylene) colorants are disclosed along with method of preparation thereof. A method of using these colorants as fluorescent security taggants is also disclosed.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system and method for electronically communicating, coordinating and disseminating product designs, specifications and production-related data between a plurality of parties. More particularly, the invention relates to the coordination of parties that create color and graphic designs, including manufacturers, designers, suppliers and printers for new or existing color products.
Abstract:
A system which enables electronic communication, coordination and dissemination of color-related designs, specifications and products. Color production and maintenance in a simultaneous fashion is provided between a plurality of disparate parties in substantially “real time.” The present integrated color-production is capable of importing electronic output from many diverse instruments, including color production-related hardware and software, and further uses the output to automatically deliver product data to and from a plurality of geographically disbursed parties. The present invention also provides an electronic library comprising colors and textures to be used for accurately matching a color sample and/or specification. The integrated, on-line color-related production system of the present invention enables parties to operate at peak efficiency, producing high sales and customer satisfaction.
Abstract:
Solid extrusion coating compositions for metal substrates, a method of extrusion coating a metal substrate, and a metal article are disclosed. The extrusion coating composition is a thermoplastic material and comprises: (a) a polyester having a weight average molecular weight of 10,000 to 50,000 and optionally, (b) a modifying resin, selected from epoxy resins having an epoxy equivalent weight of 500 to 15,000, acrylic resins or polyolefin resins. The extrusion coating composition is applied to a metal substrate in an extrusion process to provide a composition film having a thickness of about 1 to about 40 microns.
