Abstract:
A safety walker provides a strap that actuates to allow a person to enter into the safety walker and then raise the strap between their legs. The strap prevents ground level falls. The safety strap is actuated by a strap actuator that may pivot about a pivot attached to the movable support frame. The strap actuator may be locked into a secure position with the strap in an elevated position by a latch. The strap actuator may be coupled to a handle actuator by one or more linkages, or the strap actuator and handle actuator may be a one-piece rigid member that rotates about a single pivot on the moveable frame. A coupling member may extend between a left and right strap actuator proximal to the back end of the strap actuators and the safety strap may be attached to the coupling member.
Abstract:
A structural frame and methods of use thereof are disclosed that assists a patient that has limited ambulation. A structural frame is disclosed that includes a linear rod having a first end and a second end; two or more expandable telescoping sections disposed between the first end and the second end of the linear rod wherein the two or more expandable telescoping sections are operable to expand the linear rod bidirectionally at the first end and the second end; a force-loading mechanism engaging each of the two or more expandable telescoping sections operably connected to expand the telescoping linear rod.
Abstract:
A system includes a guidance device that provides feedback to a user to compress a patient's chest at a rate of between about 90 and 110 compressions per minute and at a depth of between about 4.5 centimeters to about 6 centimeters. The system includes a pressure regulation system having a pressure-responsive valve that is configured to be coupled to a patient's airway. The pressure-responsive valve is configured to remain closed during successive chest compressions in order to permit removal at least about 200 ml from the lungs in order to lower intracranial pressure to improve survival with favorable neurological function. The pressure-responsive valve is configured to remain closed until the negative pressure within the patient's airway reaches about −7 cm H2O, at which time the pressure-responsive valve is configured to open to provide respiratory gases to flow to the lungs through the pressure-responsive valve.

Abstract:
Described here are devices, systems, and methods for treating one or more conditions (such as dry eye) or improving ocular health by providing stimulation to nasal or sinus tissue. Generally, the devices may be handheld or implantable. In some variations, the handheld devices may have a stimulator body and a stimulator probe having one or more nasal insertion prongs. When the devices and systems are used to treat dry eye, nasal or sinus tissue may be stimulated to increase tear production, reduce the symptoms of dry eye, and/or improve ocular surface health.
Abstract:
A body-weight support system is disclosed, including an improved body weight support apparatus and method. The system enables not only the support of patients undergoing rehabilitation therapies, but exercise modes that are both customizable and dynamic in nature, including alternative functionality at differing locations.
Abstract:
An elevation device used in the performance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) includes a base and an upper support pivotably coupled to the base. The upper support is configured to elevate the individual's upper back, shoulders and head when pivoted. The upper support is expandable lengthwise. The upper support includes a neck support that is configured to support the individual's spine in a region of the individual's C7 and C8 vertebrae throughout elevation of the upper back, shoulders and head.
Abstract:
Embodiments of the present invention relate to computer systems for transmitting or receiving and playing a plurality of data streams, where at least one of the data streams includes video data packets and/or audio data packets and at least one other data stream includes further data packets that are synchronized with the video and/or audio data packets. In particular embodiments, the further data stream includes haptic data packets that include haptic command data generated in real time with the video and/or audio data streams, where the haptic command data is provided to a haptic output device configured to replicate or approximate sensations through the output of one or more mechanical forces in synchronization with the playing of video and/or audio from the video and/or audio data streams.
Abstract:
A compression therapy device for vascular diseases and other therapies comprising a bladder a lever arm acting on the outer surface of the bladder such that cyclical operation of an actuator on the lever arm creates cyclical changes in pneumatic pressure in the therapeutic portion of the bladder.
Abstract:
A system for gait training which includes a height-adjustable rolling platform for attaching to the foot with or without a shoe, on the affected side of a subject. When the subject shifts their body weight away from the affected side, the platform is capable of forward and backward movement to follow the swinging movement of the leg. When the subject shifts their body weight to the affected side, a passive braking system arrests any further movement of the affected limb.
Abstract:
A carbon dioxide gas mist pressure bath apparatus for preventing, improving or curing an ischemic disease by contacting a carbon dioxide gas mist to a skin and a mucous membrane of a living organism directly or through a clothing, thereby to improve or promote a circulation of a blood in an ischemic region, includes a carbon dioxide gas mist-enclosing unit; a gas supply unit for supplying a carbon dioxide gas; a carbon dioxide gas mist generating and supplying unit for pulverizing and dissolving the carbon dioxide gas into a liquid, and supplying the carbon dioxide gas mist into the carbon dioxide gas mist-enclosing unit; an exhausting device for exhausting the gas in the carbon dioxide gas mist-enclosing unit to an outside thereof; and a control device for controlling a supplying amount of the carbon dioxide gas mist from the carbon dioxide gas mist generating and supplying unit.
