Abstract: A coating photoreactive composition comprising a hydrolyzed epoxy-silane and other active ingredients is able to provide an organic dye-tintable abrasion resistant coating without the use of traditional dye-tinting enhancing agents such as polymerizable ethers or polymerizable diethers. The compositions exhibit consistently higher abrasion resistance without significant impact on tintability.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a solventborne, pigmented coating composition having a solids fraction of at least 35%, which comprises, based on the total amount of the coating composition, 0.1 to 1.5 wt % of at least one copolymer (A), where the copolymer (A) is obtainable by copolymerization of a mixture of olefinically unsaturated monomers (a) in at least one organic solvent, the mixture of monomers (a) to be polymerized consists of (a1) 10 to 60 mol % of at least one monomer of the formula (I) below where R1═C1 to C4 alkoxy, R2═C1 to C4 alkyl, and m=0 to 2, and also (a2) 40 to 90 mol % of at least one further olefinically unsaturated monomer, and the copolymer (A) possesses a glass transition temperature Tg of at least −30° C. The present invention also relates to a method for producing a multicoat paint system using the coating composition, and to the multicoat paint systems themselves.

Abstract: There is provided a composition for forming a hard coat layer which has high slippage and is excellent in water/oil repellency and also has antifouling properties such as fingerprint resistance and dirt wiping-off properties, and which is curable through ultraviolet irradiation in a nitrogen atmosphere or an air atmosphere that is generally used. A silicon-containing highly branched polymer obtained by polymerization of a monomer A having two or more radically polymerizable double bonds in a molecule and a monomer B having a polysiloxane chain and at least one radically polymerizable double bond in a molecule in the presence of a polymerization initiator D in an amount of 5 to 200% by mole relative to the number of moles of the monomer A; a curable composition including the highly branched polymer; a cured film obtained from the composition; and a hard coat film obtained by use of the composition.

Abstract: A lithium metal electrode includes a lithium metal plate and a protective layer coated on a surface of the lithium metal plate. The protective layer includes an organic-inorganic hybrid polymer comprising a repeating unit. The repeating unit includes a silicon atom, a methacryloyloxy group or an acryloyloxy group, and at least two alkoxy groups. The alkoxy groups and the methacryloyloxy group or the acryloyloxy group are respectively joined to the silicon atom. A method for preparing the lithium metal electrode and a lithium ion battery is also disclosed.

Abstract: The present invention includes silicon-containing (meth)acrylate compounds of formula (I): where A is a C1-C12 organic moiety such as an alkyl or aryl moiety, B is a silane functional group, C is a (meth)acrylate functional group and D is an allyl functional group, with w=0 or 1, z=0, 1 or 2, x=1, 2 or 3, y=1, 2 or 3 and w+x+y+z=4. The compounds are suitable for use in curable compositions, such as peroxide-curable compositions or radiation-curable compositions and may be applied to a substrate as a coating or sealant, for example. Compositions containing the silicon-containing (meth)acrylate compounds may have reduced volatility and odor problems along with improved adhesion to substrates, increased crosslink density and/or improved hardness.
