Abstract:
A rocker base is disclosed for use with a valve actuation system. The rocker base may have a housing with a top, a bottom, side walls connecting the top to the bottom, and end walls disposed between the side walls. The rocker base may also have rocker arm supports located inside the housing and integrally formed with the side walls, and an injector spring pad extending from one of the end walls toward a center of the housing. The rocker base may further have a rib connecting the injector spring pad to one of the rocker arm supports.
Abstract:
A valve stem seal assembly comprises an elastomeric seal having first and second radially inwardly directed sealing lips that are in intimate sealing contact with a valve stem. Also, a metal seal retainer has a first metal seal retainer portion disposed on a first top portion of the elastomeric seal. The metal seal retainer radially abuts a second top portion of the elastomeric seal and is bonded thereto, where no portion of the elastomeric seal is axially above the first metal seal retainer portion. A second metal seal retainer portion is continuous and unitary with, and perpendicular to the first metal seal retainer portion. An outer surface of the elastomeric seal is bonded to an inner surface of the second metal seal retainer portion, and no portion of the elastomeric seal is radially outward of the second metal seal retainer portion.
Abstract:
A check valve driving device for injecting gas, which enables an accurate operation of a check valve for injecting gas and long-term usage by enhancing durability, comprises: an upper portion fixing block which moves vertically by coupling onto a yoke repeating vertical movements; a lower portion fixing block which is coupled to a prechamber at a lower portion of the yoke; a roller which is rotatably coupled onto the upper portion fixing block, and of which a center portion diameter is bigger than diameters of both end portions; a guide, which is rotatably coupled onto the lower portion fixing block, for rotating when a curved surface on one side thereof comes into contact with the roller moving vertically; an operation piece, which is rotatably coupled onto the lower portion fixing block, wherein a front end of the operation piece moves vertically in accordance with the rotation of the guide; and a pressing rod which is coupled to the front end of the operation piece, and which is lowered in accordance with the lowering of the front end of the operation piece.
Abstract:
A valve stem seal exhibits superior workability of mounting of a reinforcing ring to a valve stem guide and enables the reinforcing ring to be fixed to the valve stem guide in a stable manner. A reinforcing ring is mounted to a valve stem guide by fitting a cylindrical portion to the valve stem guide from a side opposite to an inward flange portion. The cylindrical portion includes a slit extending linearly in a circumferential direction and a locking protrusion that is provided on a side opposite to the inward flange portion with respect to the slit and that is to be locked by a locking recess formed in the valve stem guide. The locking protrusion is constituted by a curved portion that is gradually recessed radially inward from the side opposite to the inward flange portion with respect to the slit to a position that reaches the slit.
Abstract:
An internal combustion engine has a cylinder head defining an exhaust valve guide bore with a side wall and an end wall, and an exhaust valve stem passage extending between an exhaust port and the end wall of the bore. A diameter of the passage is less than a diameter of the bore. An exhaust gas valve guide is positioned in the bore and spaced apart from the end wall to form an air gap therebetween.
Abstract:
A locator for use in a valvetrain of a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine having a valve substantially concentrically aligned with both a valve spring and a support, the support at least partially extending into the valve spring. The locator includes an annulus seat that supports the valve spring. The locator further includes a tapered ring operatively attached to the seat that has a tapered inner surface, for at least partially accommodating the support of the valvetrain therein, and a tapered outer surface, for at least partially engaging and concentrically aligning with the valve spring. The locator also includes a plurality of radially-spaced lobes. The lobes are disposed on the inner surface of the ring and at least partially engage the support such that the locator substantially concentrically aligns the valve spring with the valve and the support.
Abstract:
A valve seal removal tool includes: an elongated, threaded rod having a stopper mounted at a proximal end of the rod and a collet connected to a distal end of the rod having an inner circumference capable of being fitted over an outer circumference of a valve seal; a collet holder movable along the longitudinal axis of the rod, and having an inner circumference capable of being fitted over an outer circumference of a proximal end of the collet; a threaded nut coupled to the rod; and a slide hammer slidable along the rod and having a proximal end that opposes the stopper and is operable to slidably contact the stopper. Tightening the nut in a distal direction of the rod causes the nut to contact the collet holder, forcing the collet holder to move over a portion of the collet which compresses the collet.
Abstract:
A system for lubricating a valve assembly of an engine is disclosed. The system includes a valve bridge having a base portion is disposed on a guide rod. The guide rod is received within a hole defined in the base portion of the valve bridge to define a chamber and to receive lubricant in the chamber. The valve bridge includes an arm that is engaged with a valve stem. The valve bridge includes a passage in fluidly communicating with the chamber and an end of the arm. The system includes a valve disposed around the valve stem and valve stem guide. The valve seal includes a lip member that abuts an outer surface of the valve stem to control a flow of the lubricant from the passage to a gap defined between the valve stem and the valve stem guide.
Abstract:
A valve stem seal including a radially outwardly extending flange that includes one or more circumferential grooves to allow the flange to flex and lay flat against a support surface and protect the flange from fatigue.
Abstract:
An exhaust valve assembly for a two-stroke internal combustion engine has a valve actuator having a first pressure chamber and a second pressure chamber, and a valve operatively connected to the valve actuator. The first and second pressure chambers are adapted for selectively receiving one of a first pressure and a second pressure. The first pressure is higher than the second pressure. The valve actuator moves the valve between at least a first valve position and a second valve position. The valve actuator moves the valve to the first valve position when the first pressure is supplied to the first pressure chamber and the second pressure is supplied to the second pressure chamber. The valve actuator moves the valve to the second valve position when the second pressure is supplied to the first pressure chamber and the first pressure is supplied to the second pressure chamber.
