Abstract: Systems, apparatuses and methods are disclosed that include an internal combustion engine including a plurality of cylinders operable by a valve actuation mechanism including a lifting mechanism having a compression brake valve profile configured to selectively lift the exhaust valves on a downstroke of the cylinders in response to a cranking condition of the internal combustion engine, wherein the compression braking valve profile is phased to the upstroke of the pistons.

Abstract: An eccentric hydraulic lash adjuster, a combustion engine comprising the eccentric hydraulic lash adjuster, and a method of assembling the combustion engine, the combustion engine including a rocker lever having a nose at a distal end thereof, and a bridge bar extending between two valves, the rocker lever configured to apply pressure on the bridge bar to actuate the two valves, and an eccentric hydraulic lash adjuster positioned in the nose of the rocker lever; and a fuel injector adjacent to the nose of the rocker lever and the bridge bar, wherein the eccentric hydraulic lash adjuster includes a housing having a pivot point and a longitudinal axis offset from the pivot point and is configured to pivot about the pivot point when the rocker lever pivots about the rocket lever shaft, wherein the offset is dimensioned to prevent interference between the nose and the fuel injector.

Abstract: A variable valve timing assembly is provided for extending a duration of an intake valve opening. The variable valve timing assembly includes an intake rocker mounted on a pedestal and operable by a cam lobe to open and close the intake valve. The intake rocker includes a lever extension, and a holding member in the pedestal is lockable in position by a hydraulic circuit in the pedestal to contact the lever extension of the intake rocker and hold the intake valve in the open position. A reset pin in the pedestal is actuatable by the cam lobe to release the holding member to allow the intake valve to close.
