Abstract: A power assist robot apparatus is disclosed which is capable of assisting heavy-object lifting action and walking movement with fewer driving sources, and a method is disclosed for controlling the power assist robot apparatus. Two power-assist electric motors are located near opposite lateral sides in a right-left direction of the wearer's waist, respectively. Each lower-limb assist arm has one end fixed to a rotary shaft of the power-assist electric motor and the other end to which a lateral side of the thigh is attached. An upper-body assist arm placed at the wearer's chest and a main frame that holds the two power-assist electric motors at both ends thereof and is placed at the wearer's waist are connected by a driven rotary shaft which is rotatable about a vertical axis and a driven rotary shaft which is rotatable about a right-left axis.

Abstract: Handheld sexual appliances are disclosed herein, providing improved stimulators for stimulation of the Grafenberg area or G-spot of the female. The appliances generally comprise an elongate body having embodiments for stimulating the Grafenberg area comprising one or more of a mechanical finger that oscillates in an ovoid motion protruding from the dorsal surface of the elongated body. In some embodiments, one or more stimulators simulates a range of motion of the back-and-forth movement of one or more human fingers. Thereby, the G-spot stimulating embodiments may directly impinge upon the Grafenberg area when inserted into the vagina, while the precise angle and force of that interaction can also be finely adjusted.

Abstract: The proposed method is intended for rhythmic stimulation of neurotrophic reflexes to simultaneous stretching of muscles in various sections of spine, joints of limbs and in the main muscles of a human body. The aforesaid method can be implemented by employing an exercise machine that provides for mechanical anti-phase oscillations of lodgments affecting various sections of the body and limbs without considerable movements of the neck-and-head lodgment in the vertical direction. The upper body and the lower limbs make in-phase reciprocal movements, while the pelvic area makes movements anti-phase relative thereto. A support for the neck-and-head part is installed to allow supporting natural movements of the head in the course of the aforesaid movements of the upper body. The design of the exercise machine is described in detail herein.

Abstract: Exoskeleton technology is described herein. Such technology includes but is not limited to exoskeletons, exoskeleton controllers, methods for controlling an exoskeleton, and combinations thereof. The exoskeleton technology may facilitate, enhance, and/or supplant the natural mobility of a user via a combination of sensor elements, processing/control elements, and actuating elements. User movement may be elicited by electrical stimulation of the user's muscles, actuation of one or more mechanical components, or a combination thereof. In some embodiments, the exoskeleton technology may adjust in response to measured inputs, such as motions or electrical signals produced by a user. In this way, the exoskeleton technology may interpret known inputs and learn new inputs, which may lead to a more seamless user experience.

Abstract: A massage apparatus includes a frame defining a central opening, with a web of mesh cloth or fabric spanning the opening. A plurality of SMA wire segments span the central opening directly adjacent to the cloth or fabric. The wire segments are joined at opposed ends to a power circuit that provides ohmic heating for the wires. The wires may be actuated singly and sequentially, the contraction of each wire providing a compression of the body portion upon which it impinges. The apparatus may be a portable massage device for use with any chair, or built into a chair or bed or other furniture, or a slipcover.

Described herein is an apparatus comprising stimulators for the right and left foot and it attains such mechanical stimulation according to predetermined intensity parameters, stimulation sequence, duration and cyclical repetition. Mobility improvement was observed in particular in patients affected by Parkinson's disease.

Abstract: A compression garment includes a plurality of inflatable bladders, a valve body, an inlet, an exhaust, and a rotary valve. The plurality of inflatable bladders is positionable around a limb of a wearer. The manifold defines a plurality of bladder ports, each bladder port in fluid communication with a respective inflatable bladder. The inlet defines an inlet port, and the exhaust defines an exhaust port. The rotary valve is in fluid communication with the inlet port, the exhaust port, and the plurality of bladder ports. Rotation of the valve in a first direction controls fluid communication between the inlet port and the plurality of bladder ports, and rotation of the valve in a second direction, opposite the first direction, controls fluid communication between the exhaust port and the plurality of bladder ports.

Abstract: A massaging garment is provided that may be useful for the treatment of lymphedema or other conditions where massaging a limb is desired. In one embodiment, the massaging garment comprises a sheet of flexible material and a plurality of electrically actuable fibers that are incorporated with the sheet of flexible material. The electrically actuable fibers are spaced apart from each other, and each electrically actuable fiber is actuable to contract when actuated with electricity. The garment also comprises a control module connected to each of the electrically actuable fibers to selectively provide electricity to each electrically actuable fiber to cause each fiber, when selected, to contract. A method of massaging a limb with a garment, and a method of producing a garment are also provided. A method of producing an electrically actuable material is also provided.

Abstract: A handcart (includes a main body unit, a pair of main wheels provided to the main body unit, a grip unit that is provided to the main body unit and gripped by a user, a grip switch that detects whether the user is gripping the grip unit, a tilt angle sensor, a camera, an acceleration sensor, or other devices that detect the state of the cart body, and a wheel lock mechanism that locks the main wheels if the grip switch does not detect user's gripping of the grip unit and if the cart body is in a predetermined state, for example, if it is detected by the acceleration sensor or other devices that the cart body is moving. This configuration provides a handcart that locks the wheels without necessarily compromising usability.
