Abstract: The present disclosure relates to compositions and compounded compositions including polyamide and a maleated polyolefin, articles formed from the same such as extruded or molded articles, and methods of making the compositions and articles. A composition includes a condensation polyamide that is at least 30 wt % of the composition and that is the predominant polyamide in the composition. The composition also includes from ≥10 wt % to ≤50 wt % of a maleic anhydride grafted polyolefin having a grafted maleic anhydride incorporation of ≥0.05 to ≤1.5 wt % based on total weight of the maleated polyolefin.

Abstract: Disclosed are compositions comprising at least one polyolefin, a hindered phenol, and a phenyl phosphite; wherein the overall concentration of the hindered phenol and phenyl phosphite is within a range from 10 ppm to 5000 ppm in the polyolefin, and wherein the amount of the hindered phenol is less than the phenyl phosphite. Also disclosed herein are compositions comprising at least one polypropylene, a neutralizer, a hindered phenol, and a phenyl phosphite; wherein the overall concentration of the hindered phenol and phenyl phosphite is within a range from 1000 ppm to 5000 ppm in the polyolefin, and wherein the amount of the hindered phenol is from 200 to 2000 ppm less than the phenyl phosphite.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a composition comprising: an epoxy-containing component, elastomeric particles in an amount of greater than 11% by weight to 25% by weight based on total weight of the composition; and a curing component activatable by an external energy source, the curing component comprising at least one guanidine having a D90 particle size of 25 μm measured by dynamic light scattering. Also disclosed is the composition in an at least partially cured state. Also disclosed is a method for treating a substrate comprising applying the composition to a surface of a substrate; and applying an external energy source to cure the composition. Also disclosed are substrates comprising the composition. Also disclosed are substrates formed by the method of the present invention.

Abstract: A composition which when applied to a tire or other rubber surface, facilitates the release of dirt, debris, and other foreign contaminants and prevents their adhesion. Abstract: A method for preparing a transparent fluorine-free, super-lubricating and oil-proof coating includes: dissolving a sulfhydryl compound, a styrene copolymer, a low surface energy component, and a photoinitiator in an organic solvent, conducting a uniform stirring to obtain a mixture, coating the mixture onto a substrate, and conducting a curing under an ultraviolet lamp to obtain the transparent fluorine-free, super-lubricating and oil-proof coating. The coating has excellent adhesion resistance to various organic solvents with low surface tension and even liquids with high viscosity, and has excellent chemical stability and mechanical durability. The coating can be applied to various substrates such as glass, an aluminum sheet, a steel sheet, and a polymer without limitations of a use environment, maintains excellent adhesion resistance in the environment of air, oil, and water, and has wide applicability. Moreover, according to the method, various ways such as spraying, dip-coating and spin-coating can be used.

Abstract: Described herein are electrical articles comprising a polyamide (PA). As explained in detail below, the polyamide (PA) is a semi-aromatic polyamide derived from the polycondensation of an aliphatic diamine, terephthalic acid, and a bis(aminoalkyl)cyclohexane or a cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid. It was surprisingly discovered that incorporation of the cycloaliphatic diamine bis(aminoalkyl)cyclohexane or the cycloaliphatic dicarboxylic acid cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid into the polyamide provided for polymer compositions (PC) having significantly improved comparative tracking index (“CTI”) retention after heat aging, relative to analogous polyamides derived from only the aliphatic diamine and terephthalic acid. Due at least in part to the improved CTI retention, the polyamides (PA) can be desirably incorporated into articles that, during use, are exposed to elevated temperatures and benefit from high CTI performance.

Abstract: A method of forming a coating composition for application to a substrate utilizing a high efficiency transfer applicator. The method includes identifying at least one of an Ohnesorge number (Oh) for the coating composition, a Reynolds number (Re) for the coating composition, or a Deborah number (De) for the coating composition. The method includes obtaining at least one of a viscosity (η) of the coating composition, a surface tension (σ) of the coating composition, a density (ρ) of the coating composition, a relaxation time (λ) of the coating composition, a nozzle diameter (D) of the high efficiency transfer applicator, or an impact velocity (v) of the high efficiency transfer applicator. The method includes forming the coating composition having at least one of the viscosity (η), the surface tension (σ), or the density (ρ). The coating composition is configured to be applied to the substrate utilizing the high efficiency transfer applicator having at least one of the nozzle diameter (D) or the impact velocity (v).

Abstract: A method for reducing outgassing of a polyester composed of repeat units derived from 1,4-butanediol is melt blending the polyester with 0.2 to 2 weight percent water, based on the weight of the polyester. In addition to water, the polyester can also be blended with 0.01 to 0.5 weight percent of a quencher. The method results in formation of a polyester composition which exhibits reduced outgassing, and is suitable for molding into articles, for example an automotive headlight reflector or bezel.
