This invention relates to a fuel composition, comprising: (A) a normally liquid fuel; and (B) a cold flow improving amount of (i) a metathesized natural oil; (ii) a metathesized natural oil derivative; or (iii) a mixture of (i) and (ii). The invention also relates to metathesized derivatives formed by the reaction of a metathesized natural oil with a nucleophile, oxidizer, aromatic compound, enophilic acid reagent, or a mixture of two or more thereof.

The present invention relates to a control release gel for delivery of additives to fuels where the gel compositions are free of ash producing components, or are substantially free of ash producing components, such that the gel compositions of the present invention do not supply any ash to the fuel compositions with which they are used. Further, the invention provides for the use of such compositions in the operation of an internal combustion engine.

A chemical composition of matter comprising a wax plasticizing agent (plasticizer) tributoxyethyl phosphate, a mixture of selected long chain fatty acids (preferably C10 to C22), and a mixture of selected low-surface tension surfactants, which when added in solution to crude oil or refined products has been shown to lower both the B.S. & W. (rag layer) and the coefficient of friction of crude oils and refined products. This chemical composition of matter is particularly useful as a wax liquefaction, dispersant, and solubilization agent for asphaltene and paraffins in crude oil and refined products. The reduction in the co-efficient of friction resulting from the addition of this product to crude oil will allow crude oil to pump through pipelines with a minimum amount of resistance due to friction (drag).

Embodiments of a composition useful as a fuel or fuel additive are provided. Certain disclosed embodiments of the composition comprise mid to low flash point naptha, at least one alcohol having a ratio of between about 1 to about 4 carbon atoms to 1 hydroxyl functional group, at least one lubricating oil, and at least one oxygenated natural aromatic compound, wherein the oxygenated natural aromatic compound has a flash point between about 60° C. and about 160° C., has at least one oxygenated functional group, and is soluble in the composition.

It has been discovered that the residence time of oils/fats in metal apparatus, particularly in the upstream of a hydrotreating unit, for example, a heat exchanger and/or a storage/feed tank, can impact significantly on corrosiveness of oils/fats in combination with and without conventional hydrocarbons. In addition, it is also found that the presence of hydrogen in the metal apparatus can also inhibit the corrosion rate of oils/fats.

A composition for improving the combustion efficiency of an internal combustion Engine. The composition includes a mixture of a hydrocarbon fuel and an organometallic soap selected from among several cerium-containing and ferric compounds. The cerium-containing compound or compounds increase the energy released during combustion of the fuel. The ferric compound or compounds coat an interior wall of a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine to increase the power output of the engine by reducing the accumulation of residues deposited on the interior wall which interfere with the combustion of fuel.

An additive mixture as component of a composition of mineral oil as main component and trace portions of an additive mixture containing the additive components a) ethylene-vinylester copolymers modified by polar groups with molecular mass weight averages from 3000 to 50000 and an ethylene component of 50 to 90 mass %, and b) C2-C6-oxyalkyl-bridged C12-C40-monocarboxylic acids, and/or c) partially and/or completely imidated copolymers of unsaturated C4-C20-dicarboxylic acid anhydrides and vinyl aromatics and/or C2-C36-α-olefins, whereby the content of the additive mixture in the mineral is 0.005 to 1 mass %. The compositions are suitable as flowable media to be transported at low temperatures and as mineral oil fuels with high lubricity and flowability.

Additionally, the present invention further provides for a fuel composition comprising a fuel, which is a liquid at room temperature; and additive, wherein the additive is selected from the group consisting of: a detergent; antioxidant; friction modifier selected from the group consisting of an alkoxylated fatty amine, a fatty acid or derivative thereof, and mixture thereof; and mixtures thereof.
