    Abstract: This manual gun (2) for applying a coating product comprises a high voltage unit (42), designed for electrostatically charge the coating product at a voltage/flow rate characteristic when it is supplied with electric power, and adjustment means (16), for selecting, from among several pre-adjusted voltage/current characteristics, the voltage/current characteristic according to which the product is electrostatically charged. This gun also comprises a control member (10), which is maneuverable between an inactive configuration, where it opposes the application of the coating product and wherein the high voltage unit (42) is not supplied with electric power, and an active configuration, wherein it does not oppose the application of the coating product and wherein the high voltage unit is supplied with electric power. The adjustment means (16) comprise control buttons, giving the possibility of manually adjusting the flow rate of coating product applied by the gun when the control member (10) is in an active configuration and of selecting the voltage/current characteristic when the control member is in an inactive configuration.

    Abstract: An apparatus for electrostatically spraying a coating product. The apparatus includes a sprayer with first and second pipes which control the flow of the coating product. Air is controlled by at least one valve. The sprayer includes a device for controlling the opening/closing of the valve, a high voltage unit. A generator includes a module for controlling power supplied to the high voltage unit.     Abstract: A system for fluid transport is provided where a quantity of fluid is held in a reservoir. A droplet generator is employed to generate droplets from the fluid, for example a nozzle-based system or a nozzleless system such as an acoustic ejection system. A generated droplet has a trajectory whereby it arrives at a target. A circuit is used to modify one or more characteristics of the generated droplet in a way which increases the likelihood that the droplet will not splash or bounce when it arrives at the target. The circuit may in different embodiments control the speed of the droplet or the Weber number of the droplet. The circuit may create an electric field in an area of space where the droplet passes. The circuit may charge the droplet by causing it to contact ions.

    Abstract: The invention provides a gun for spraying a powder onto a work piece to form a coating and includes a pistol-grip housing having an air valve coupled to a source of pressurized air. The housing also supports a source of variable electrical potential. A powder container is disposed in fluid communication with the air valve so that powder within the container may be fluidized by air from the source of pressurized air when the valve is opened. A nozzle is positioned within the housing and includes a central passageway having an open end and disposed in fluid communication with the powder container. The central passageway frictionally imparts a net electrical charge of a first polarity to a first portion of the powder when the first portion of the powder contacts the surface during the spraying.
