Abstract:
This invention is related to a wood preservative composition comprising i) at least one active ingredient, and ii) a carrier system containing at least 10% w/w of a solvent selected from one or more ester compounds of the formula (I) wherein: R and R′ are independently selected from Ci-Cβ-alkyl groups, and wherein the carbon chains of alkyl groups of 3 or more carbon atoms may be straight-chained or branched; and wherein the at least one active ingredient is substantially soluble in the earner system. The preservative compositions may be used to treat wood based materials, and the ester solvent may optionally be recovered following the treatment. Formula (I).
Abstract:
A method of forming a digital embossing (17) on a surface (2) by bonding hard press particles (67) to a carrier (68). A liquid binder pattern (P) is applied on the carrier by a digital drop application head. Hard press particles (67) are applied on the carrier (68) and the binder pattern such that some hard press particles are bonded to the carrier (68) by the liquid pattern and non-bonded press particles (67) are removed. The carrier (68) with the bonded hard press particles (67) is pressed to the surface (2) and an embossing is formed when the carrier (68) with the hard press particles (67) is removed.
Abstract:
A method for providing improved moisture protection to a wood board flooring comprising a plurality of solid wood components which together form the wood board, such that the wood board has a first surface and a second surface, the method comprising: applying a coating to at least one of the first and second surfaces of the wood board, the coating being substantially free of water and solvents.
Abstract:
A nozzle for applying a fluid material to an object includes a tubular wall with several circumferentially spaced ribs that extend outward from the tubular wall to engage an object to which the fluid material is to be applied. The ribs are configured to space the tubular wall from the object to provide a gap between them for receiving the fluid material and to align the tubular wall with the object. The tubular wall provides at least one opening between adjacent pairs of ribs to allow the fluid material to flow into the gap. The nozzle includes a sealing surface that is configured to engage a portion of the object when the spaced ribs are engaging the object to prevent escape of the fluid from said gap and to allow pressure to be applied to the fluid material. This pressure is detected to determine when the gap has been filled.
Abstract:
Methods of producing an ombré finish for materials may comprise applying a stain to the surface of a material in a first concentration toward a first part of said surface and in a second concentration toward a second part of said surface, blending said stain from said first part to said second part to create a gradual transition in concentration, and sealing said surface. Said methods may also comprise applying a stain substantially uniformly to the surface of a material, removing said stain from said surface so as to create a gradual transition in concentration of said stain, and sealing said surface. Said methods may further comprise the steps of comparing the color of said material to a target color and toning said material until said color of said material matches said target color.
Abstract:
A coated wood board flooring having improved moisture protection, the flooring comprising: a plurality of solid wood components which together form the wood board, such that the wood board has a first surface and a second surface; and a coating substantially free of water and solvents, wherein the coating is applied to at least one of the first and second surfaces of the wood board.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and a device for processing parts, preferably made from timber-derived materials, especially MDF elements for achieving a sanded or polished surface, wherein blasting media are directed onto the surface at a shallow impact angle, and correspondingly produced wood parts.
Abstract:
A composition for sealing exposed wood before finishing the wood, which composition includes polymer solids and an acid neutralizing agent. The acid neutralizing agent may be a weak base and/or a buffering agent. The polymer solids may include acrylate monomers, urethane monomers, and the like. Also disclosed is a method of sealing and neutralizing a wood surface before finishing the wood surface by applying the composition to the exposed wood surface.

Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to a process for protecting wood components of the interior of an automotive vehicle from UVA radiation by coating the top surface of a stained wood substrate with a low gloss polyurethane-containing topcoat having a UV absorber and HALS component incorporated therein. The wood component can have a 60 degree surface gloss rating no greater than about 30 gloss units measured according to ASTM D523-08 test conditions. Methods of producing the vehicle interior component are also disclosed.
