Abstract: Methods and systems for coating metal substrates are provided. The methods and systems include sequential application of low flow and high flow powder coatings followed by a single heating step to provide a cured coating. The methods and systems include a marker that allows coating uniformity to be monitored and assessed during application. The described methods provide coatings with optimal surface smoothness and edge coverage.

Abstract: A heat treatment method for improving the mechanical property and the biofunctional stability of a magnesium alloy is provided, comprising: (1) fully annealing an original cold-drawn magnesium alloy AZ31; (2) polishing a surface of the magnesium alloy AZ31 from the step (1) by a waterproof abrasive paper; (3) heating the magnesium alloy AZ31 obtained from the step (2) to a temperature of 330° C. to 350° C. and keeping the temperature for 3 to 4 hours; and (4) cooling the magnesium alloy AZ31 obtained from the step (3) to room temperature. A method for manufacturing a small-peptide-coated biomaterial and an application of the small-peptide-coated biomaterial are further provided.

Abstract: A device for coating a wire with polymer fibers and method thereof are provided. The device includes a wire holder unit fixing both ends of a wire, a fiber forming unit including a first fiber forming module and a second fiber forming module that receive a polymer solution, face each other, and form fibers while approaching each other and retreating from each other, and a control unit adjusting a tension of the wire by controlling the wire holder unit and crossing the wire and the fibers by controlling the fiber forming unit. The fiber forming unit rotates the wire along an axis which extends in a longitudinal direction of the wire. The fibers are attached and coated on the wire when the wire and the fibers cross each other. The wire coating method can improve an adsorption state of coated fibers by including a post-processing step.

Abstract: A coating system includes a plurality of liquid immersion workstations positioned along an arcuate path, the plurality of liquid immersion workstations defining a single complete coating process for a sequence of objects. A plurality of curing workstations are configured to independently receive objects of the sequence of objects exiting the plurality of liquid immersion workstations. An articulated robotic arm has a base positioned inside the arcuate path in top plan view such that the robotic arm is operable to carry each object of the sequence of objects through each of the plurality of liquid immersion workstations and to exactly one of the plurality of curing workstations. An articulated robotic hand is provided at a distal end of the robotic arm and configured to grasp and hold each of the objects and to oscillate the object while submerged in each of the plurality of liquid immersion workstations.

Abstract: A metallic sheet with deposited structured images and method for manufacture (MSDIMM) that includes a substrate, at least one structural feature, and a metal layer. The structural feature is at least one cavity on the substrate's upper surface, or at least one material object that extends outward from the substrate's upper surface. The metal layer is deposited, either by sputtering or atomic deposition, onto the substrate's upper surface, and, as the metal layer is deposited, the metal layer interfaces with and follows the dimensions of the structural feature(s), thereby creating a visible image at the location(s) of the structural feature(s). The visible image can be any image, and is preferably either an artistic image, a textual image, or an authentication image. The MDSIMM can be used for a variety sf purposes, and is especially effective as a form of exonumia or currency.

Abstract: A method for forming a protective antioxidative barrier on the furnace electrodes using a chemically altered cooling liquid containing an antioxidant additive. This method can be applied to electrodes used in electric arc furnaces and ladle metallurgy furnaces. The method can involve spraying the cooling liquid onto the electrode, thereby forming the protective antioxidative barrier and reducing the oxidation of the electrode.
