Abstract: A system for applying a first coating composition and a second coating composition. The system includes a first high transfer efficiency applicator defining a first nozzle orifice and a second high transfer efficiency applicator defining a second nozzle orifice. The system further includes a substrate defining a target area. The first high transfer efficiency applicator is configured to expel the first coating composition through the first nozzle orifice to the target area of the substrate to form a first coating layer. The second high transfer efficiency applicator is configured to expel the second coating composition through the second nozzle orifice to the first coating layer to form a second coating layer.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for producing a substrate (2) which is coated with an alkali metal (1), in which method a promoter layer (3) which is composed of a material which reacts with the alkali metal (1) by at least partial chemical reduction of the promoter layer (3) is applied to a surface of the substrate (2) and a surface of the promoter layer (3) is acted on by an alkali metal (1) and then the alkali metal (1) is converted into the solid phase and a coating containing the alkali metal is formed.

Abstract: Web lifter and/or stabilizer and method of lifting and/or stabilizing a travelling web and for coating a web. The device creates a web hold down force via a negative pressure slot at its exit side, which draws the web down against the surface on the entry side. The device can be actuated to move the web relative to a slot die coater off the die lips and stop the application of slurry to the web, thereby creating uncoated regions on the web surface. The device can then be actuated to move the web back into contact with the coater to start the application of slurry to the web, thereby creating coated regions on the web surface. Web lifting can be accomplished by rotating the device in first and second directions to lift the web off of the slot die coater and return the web back into contact with the coater.

Abstract: A dispensing unit for dispensing liquid material includes a hollow reservoir for accommodating a syringe and having an elongated nipple at one end of the reservoir, a piston including a shaft disposed therein, and a bracket adapted to receive the nipple of the reservoir and the piston. The reservoir nipple provides a fluid path for liquid material dispensed from the syringe supported in the reservoir. The bracket receives the nipple of the reservoir such that the fluid path for the liquid material is oriented towards a nozzle disposed in the bracket. The nipple also has holes disposed near an end thereof, and the bracket is adapted to receive the piston oriented with respect to the reservoir nipple such that the shaft of the piston is aligned with the holes in the nipple and the nozzle. The shaft is displaceable through the holes in the nipple towards the nozzle.
