Abstract: Described herein are methods for determining a target musculoskeletal activity cycle (MSKC) to cardiac cycle (CC) timing relationship. The method may include detecting a first characteristic of a signal responsive to a CC timing of a user that repeats at a frequency that corresponds to a heart rate of the user; detecting a second characteristic of a signal responsive to a rhythmic musculoskeletal cycle activity (MSKC) timing of the user that repeats at a frequency that corresponds to the MSKC rate of the user; determining a value representative of an actual timing relationship between the first characteristic and the second characteristic; detecting a third characteristic of a signal corresponding to a physiological metric that varies with the actual timing relationship between the first and second characteristics; and determining a target value representative of a preferred timing relationship between the first and second characteristics.

Abstract: The appliance according to the invention serves for cardiopulmonary massage and/or resuscitation of a patient and is provided with a massage device (17) which can be driven reversibly by a drive device (18) in an actuation direction (23) and which has a pressure area (20) that can be positioned on the chest (12) of a patient (11) at a target contact area (21). In order to ensure that deviations of the pressure area of the massage device from a target pressure point can be determined promptly and reliably, the invention proposes a position sensor device (22), for determining changes in the position of the massage device (17) and/or of the pressure area (20) thereof relative to the target contact area (21) on the chest (12) of the patient in a plane normal to the actuation direction (23) of the massage device (17).

Abstract: The driving system comprises: a first support structure; a second support structure supported by the first support structure for rotation about a stationary axis of rotation; a first actuation unit having a first motor device and a first output member; and a second actuation unit having a second motor device and a second output member. The first output member is drivingly connected with the second support structure for rotation about the first axis of rotation. The first motor device controls the rotation of the first output member, along with the second support structure, about the first axis of rotation. The second output member is supported by the second support structure for rotation about a second axis of rotation. The second motor device controls the rotation of the second output member about the second axis of rotation.

Abstract: The described knee rehabilitation device can include any suitable component. In some implementations, however, it includes a sitting surface that is configured to support a user; a knee arm that comprises a leg coupling mechanism, that is pivotally coupled to the rehabilitation device, and that is configured to pivot through a range of motion; and a drive mechanism that is configured to force the knee arm through the range of motion. In some cases, the drive mechanism includes a first hard stop that prevents the knee arm from extending past a first set point, and the drive mechanism further includes a second hard stop that prevents the knee arm from being retracted past a second set point. In some cases, the device is further configured to be programmed to electronically limit the knee arm's range of motion. Other implementations are discussed.

Abstract: An erotic dream induction apparatus includes an inflatable air bladder, such as a rubber balloon, to induce sexual arousal via genital stimulation. The air bladder is brought into contact with either the penis or vagina of the user, and/or is inserted into the anus and/or vagina of the user. In one embodiment, the air bladder is brought into contact with the penis, vagina, and/or anus of the user by being maintained in position near, against, or around the penis, vagina, and/or anus by means of straps or pockets in stimulation underwear, such that when the air bladder is inflated, the air bladder makes contact with at least a portion of the penis, vagina, and/or anus of the user. The air bladder is repeatedly inflated and deflated by pumps and/or valves.

Abstract: An orthosis includes a first portion and a second portion configured to attach on opposite sides of a joint. An actuator is configured to apply a force between the first and second portions. The actuator includes a first spool and a second spool rotatably mounted to the first portion. An output pulley is mounted to the second portion. A belt has a first end wrapped around the first spool, a second end wrapped around the second spool, and a mid-portion wrapped around the output pulley. The actuator is configured to rotate the first and second spools. The rotation of the first spool pulls the belt a given length, and the rotation of the second spool feeds the belt less than the given length, so as to pull the output pulley towards the first portion to pull the second portion towards the first portion.

The second trolley includes a patient attachment mechanism configured to support a second patient. The second trolley is configured to move relative to the support track such that the movement of the second trolley is independent of the movement of the first trolley. A collision management assembly is configured to be coupled to one of the first trolley and the second trolley. The collision management assembly includes a bumper that is configured to prevent the first trolley from directly contacting the second trolley.
