Abstract:
An internal combustion engine may include at least one cylinder, a first outlet valve and a second outlet valve for directing exhaust gas out from a combustion chamber of the at least one cylinder. The first outlet valve may include a first valve opening and a first valve body where the first valve opening is adjustable between a closed position and an open position. The second outlet valve may include a second valve opening and a second valve body where the second valve body is adjustable between a closed position and an open position. An adjusting lever may adjust one or both of the first valve body and the second valve body between the open position and the closed position.
Abstract:
A variable valve lift apparatus includes an end lever; a variable lift body connected to the end lever, and rotatable around the end lever, a valve mounted on the variable lift body; and a low lift cam operable to open and close the valve. The variable lift body includes a high lift body, and a low lift body rotatable around the high lift body. A low lift connecting portion selectively connects the low lift body and the high lift body.
Abstract:
A variable mechanical valve control for an internal combustion engine is provided having an underhead camshaft for adjusting a valve stroke and an opening and closing time, making it possible to achieve a very compact transmission gear between the push rod drive and the intake and exhaust valves, to reduce the number of components required for the transmission gear, and to obtain a mechanical, completely variable valve train with an underhead camshaft.
Abstract:
A method for operating an engine of a vehicle, the engine having a cylinder with at least a first and second valve, the method comprising during a first mode, operating with the first valve active and the second valve deactivated during a cycle of the cylinder, where during said first mode, the cylinder operates to allow at least air to enter the cylinder during an intake stroke, where the air is mixed with fuel and compressed to attain auto-ignition; and during a second mode, operating with the first and second valves active during a cycle of the cylinder, where during said second mode, cylinder operates to allow at least air to enter the cylinder, where the air is mixed with fuel and ignited via a spark from an ignition plug.
