Abstract:
A method produces a surface of a cured silicone elastomer with a hardened protective coating when an RTV silicone composition is blended with an oxygen curing compound, exposing the resulting composition to moisture to produce a cured dull surface, then applying a hardenable protective coating composition (such as paint) to the cured surface to obtain a flaw-free film, and then allowing the coating composition to harden.
Abstract:
A process is disclosed which is beneficially employed in sensitizing plastic surfaces prior to etching which sensitization enhances the coverage and adhesiveness of the subsequent plate. The composition and process proposed use Limonene, solutions of Limonene and Emulsions of Limonene for the sensitizer.
Abstract:
A specific oxidation product layer is formed on the surface of a styrene resin container body, and via the oxidation product layer, a coated layer of a copolymer of vinylidene chloride, vinyl chloride and a (meth)acrylate is provided. This coated container has not only excellent gas-barrier property but also excellent peel resistance, particularly excellent peel resistance at low temperatures in the wet state.
Abstract:
Polyurethane articles of manufacture are treated so as to make their surfaces more adherent to paint by contacting the surfaces of the articles with a solution of phosphoric acid in a low molecular weight organic solvent, e.g. a carboxylic acid ester such as ethyl acetate. The treated article is then dried at an elevated temperature.
Abstract:
A treatment of a shaped flexible elastomer item so as to form a coating of a hydrophilic polymer on the surface of the elastomer. The treatment encompasses cleaning of the elastomer surface, immersion of the elastomer in a concentrated solution of a strong acid such as sulphuric acid, washing, and subsequent dipping of the treated elastomer in a solution of an uncured hydrophilic polymer. The treated elastomer is then held at an elevated temperature for a period of time to cure the polymer coating and to bond the polymer coating to the elastomer.
Abstract:
Organic, polymeric shaped objects such as films coated with aluminum and/or ferric orthophosphate and topcoated with a vinylidene chloride copolymer containing about 2 to 30% of a polymeric epoxy resin.
Abstract:
A process for imparting to a new plastic article, initially, or for restoring to an old plastic article, a lustre or sheen to enhance its appearance. The process includes various cleansing and surface treating operations to prepare the articles for a final chemical treatment which consists in subjecting them to a vaporized solvent for the plastic of the article which will cause the plastic at the surface thereof to flow and fill in any scratches or voids thereby imparting to the articles a high lustre, gloss or sheen and to thereby greatly improve the physical character and the appearance of such surface.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, a polymer film includes a base composition of poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate) and a surface composition comprising hydroxy groups. In some embodiments, a polymer film includes a base layer of a first composition of poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate), a surface layer at a surface of the base layer, and a coating layer of a second composition of a copolymer of glycerol and sebacic acid. The surface layer includes surface hydroxy groups converted from acetate groups of the poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate). The second composition is attached to the surface layer by ester bonds between carboxyl groups of the copolymer and the hydroxy groups. A single-use bioreactor bag includes a polymer film including a base composition of poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate) and a surface composition comprising hydroxy groups. A method of modifying a poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate) film includes converting acetate groups at a first surface of the poly(ethylene-vinyl acetate) film to hydroxy groups.
Abstract:
A method for producing a PEDOT film on a substrate comprising a substrate and at least one PEDOT layer on a surface of the substrate is disclosed. The method comprises applying a solution comprising an oxidant and a base inhibitor on a surface of the substrate; subjecting the oxidant-coated substrate to a polymerization step by exposing the surface(s) of the oxidant-coated substrate to EDOT monomer vapour at a polymerization temperature; and wherein, during the polymerization step, the temperature of the oxidant-coated substrate is kept at a controlled substrate temperature and wherein the controlled substrate temperature is 2-40° C. lower than the polymerization temperature. Further is disclosed a conducting PEDOT film, an electronic device comprising the conducting PEDOT film and different uses of the conducting PEDOT film. Further, is disclosed a method for producing a polymer film formed of a copolymer, a conducting polymer film, an electronic device comprising the conducting polymer film and different uses of the conducting polymer film.
