Abstract: Provided are a cap tread rubber composition for cold weather tires enabling a balanced improvement in fuel economy, abrasion resistance, performance on ice/snow, and high-speed performance on snow-/ice-free cold roads, and a cold weather tire formed from the same. The rubber composition contains: a rubber component including BR, SBR, and NR and/or IR; and a filler, the composition having a combined amount of NR, IR, and BR of 80% by mass or more, an amount of BR of 30% by mass or more, and an amount of SBR of 0.3-10% by mass, each per 100% by mass of the rubber component, the filler including 60% by mass or more of silica per 100% by mass of the filler, the composition containing, per 100 parts by mass of the rubber component, 50 parts by mass or more of a fine particle silica having a N2SA of 190 m2/g or more.

Abstract: A matte coating composition is provided which, while exhibiting low gloss, has high levels of transparency and various resistance properties. Also provided are a decorative material having superior design aesthetics that uses the above matte coating composition, and a method for producing the decorative material. A matte coating composition used for forming a surface protective layer that can utilize gloss difference to portray an uneven three-dimensional feel, wherein the matte coating composition contains a silica and a binder component, and is at least one of heat-curable and ionizing radiation-curable, the silica has an average particle size determined by a laser diffraction method of 3 to 10 μm, and a primary particle size calculated from the specific surface area of 10 to 50 nm, and the amount of the silica, relative to the resin solid fraction of the matte coating composition, is from 20 to 30% by weight.

Abstract: A paint composition for forming energy saving self-cleaning coatings includes water, a binder composition, a powder catalyst composition, a first pigment composition, a second pigment composition, and a fluoropolymer-composition. The binder composition includes a first acrylic resin having an average particle size from about 0.2 to 1 micron and a glass transition temperature less than about 10° C. The powder catalyst composition includes anatase titanium dioxide with a surface area from about 50 to 500 m2/g. It should be appreciated that anatase provides catalyst activity that is useful for providing the self-cleaning properties of the present embodiment. The first pigment composition includes rutile titanium dioxide which typically has low or no catalytic activity while the second pigment composition is different than the first pigment composition. Characteristically, the fluoropolymer-containing composition includes polyvinylidene fluoride and a second acrylic resin.
